Without wanted to cause any offense, I find having it turned into part of the tribal lfc/efc thing, with toffees being grateful etc leaves a bad taste in my mouth, that's all. I just hope the poor kids can rest in peace, and that this incident spurs people into tackling the problems of guns and teenage crime seriously in the city.

To be honest I don't like it. There I've said it.

This poor lads death is a tragic event, but really it has **** all to do with us and this is leaping on the bad wagon after the everton guys had a good photo opportunity over the weekend. The kid was an everton fan, so its only right everton respond. People and children die everyday in the most harrowing and terrible circumstances, while the club should acknowledge these things when it's directly related to them, it should not use them a Public Relations exercise!!

We've gone mental over armbands everytime someone steps on a spider and this is an extension of that, with a more sinister twist marketing thrown into the mix too.

Superdan, I trust we'll have our club rep outside alderhay ensuring everyother tragic loss is marked in the same way?

What a prick you really are.

Perhaps you read the article and a few posts to see that the young lads family will be able to seek some solace from our actions this evening. I doubt that will be of any concern to you though as you have a heart of stone.

Maybe I should have worded it different as to say everyone murdered in Liverpool thats not involved in any crime or gang ****e should be remembered.

The kid was murdered, he didnt die of a heart attack. He lost his life because some pricks killed him so why shouldnt we remember the poor lad at the match.

Doesnt matter what I say anyway, if his parents find something in it thats all that matters

Football is the lifeblood of Liverpool mate. Everyone here is a football fan. If it is not their whole life, it is at least part of it, and these gestures mean a lot to them. Therefore they should happen. End of discussion.

It's not the right, time or place is all. If I had a ticket, i'd be following the ceremony. I have nothing but sympathy and compassion for Rhys and his family, the last thing i'd want is for there to be any conflict at all at the match.

Again having said all that, this is the wrong response, is disproportionate (Where our response to all the other terrible deaths on our dorrstep?) and is a PR exercise rather than anything with real meaning.

The spider comment was probably ill-judged, but I still think we wear armbands too often, it detracts from the significance of it. The city of liverpool including both clubs and probably other organisations and charities could try to make a real difference in the city by working together, maybe form some form of trust for disafected kids and youth workers etc on the back of this event. What is planned is superficial, knee-jerk irrelevance and marketing, that to me is an insult to Rhys' memory!!

Mate the one thing that this city is famous for is not being divisive. Football is only a game that should not alienate communites. Glasgow is a good model if you want one. The blue noses are part of my community. I hate them on the pitch but that is where it ends. I hear what you say about the fact that other people's tragedies go unmarked. That said, I would not deny anyone the opportunity to help them grieve. I seriously don't think that EFC pulled a stunt at their match. Shock makes people act in all manner of ways. This city is too small not to feel its waves. Go into the night Ryan with my heart and every best wish I can give you.

Wether i'm a prick or not, you entirely missed my point in a storm of emotion and knee-jerking. This has nothing to do with the size of my heart.

If I get shot in Manchester, I dont want any organisations there making a big media circus out of it and trying to claim any moral high ground out of it. If they actually want to help the area get better, send my parents a card etc great, just dont try to play the ****ing hero and milk any popularity from my death thank you very much!!

So we'll do it for all bereaved parents?

Liverpool are not trying to get any media attention from it. Why the **** would we need it? The club and mainly Parry feel it is going to give the parents something so it doesnt ****ing matter if we win awards in the papers tomorrow.

And I pull people up on here for hating 'bluenoses' too much, part of what attracted me to LFC was how dignified our rivalry with everton used to be. Dont lecture me on divisiveness in football!!
