waste of time there is no way this stadium will get built. hicks can't afford it and DIC would bring their own people in, probably with an underwater theme park and 200 storey hotel on top if its anything like some of the crazy **** i've seen built last time i was in dubai.

I would suspect that if, or rather hopefully when, DIC take over they will either go straight ahead with this stadium or else have their own design prepared and waiting to go so no more time is lost.

If they are taking the time to meet supporters groups they are surely have already plans for the stadium.

I think the ‘old new one’ was for 60,000 capacity to start with the possibility to then up it to 78,000 once the transport systems were upgraded, or something like that. Then they realised they could not afford it and asked HKS to revisit the plans, and that other lot who designed the first bowl also had a new go at it. They chose this reworked one which is still 60,000 to start but I gather can only be upgraded to 70,000 in future.
Something like that anyway!

This announcement came from nowhere. As far as I am aware this was already approved, so I am assuming this is an arranged announcement to

a) give Hicks a way out with dignity

and/or

b) help justify DIC paying over the odds for the club.

We had to submit a new set of plans when Hicks original stadium had to be redesigned (because he found out he couldn't afford his old one) these plans had to go through planning applications etc again, now it seems it's finally been given the go ahead ... although if the club is sold who knows what will happen then ...

Yes, it is nothing but an announcement announcing that the latest designs for the stadium have been approved by the council, and given full planning permission, without which, work could not start on the stadium.

That is all.

Whether it can be paid for is a different story.

Same here. Saw the headline, couldn’t be arsed to even read it. What’s the point? I’ve wasted enough time reading about this and that and getting excited for absolutely no reason – no chance I’m doing it again.

It'll be interesting to see, if the stadium now has got the go-ahead how long it'll be before something starts, could tell us alot about the board room situation
