Good point, he went to work with Sammy Lee didn't he?.
McPharland's job however may have been taken up by the Piet Hamburg.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Would say more by Malcolm Elias as he is in charges of recruiting players as opposed to Hamburg who is more in charge of coaching the players we have

You wouldn't know, with Heighway & McParland going in the summer I think they completely restructured the coaches so there may still be a role there for him if he was rated highly enough

i think mcparland would a good addition to our academy. he knows the club inside out and you can never have enough good people working with the youth system on either recruitment or training.

Im sure rafa knows sammy very well and it probably would be a good move to bring him back but you rafa can be one stubborn ass and once you cross him... so im not sure about sammy.

but it would be good to get another local lad into the set up. keep the bridge between the academy, reserves and the first team.

I would be very pleased to see Sammy back at Anfield.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

a lot of people are saying he's a great coach. how do we know though? i often see people applauded as a great coach. but what criteria are we assessing by.

i can assess a great manager or even a good manager due to how much he gets out of the team etc.

but how does one assess if someone is a great coach, seeing as so many have said he is a great coach? on what basis is that accolade given?

genuine question, cos i have no way of knowing if he's a good coach or not as its a behind the scenes role, and wonder how so many know that Sammy is a good coach and what criteria they use to judge it.

But how do you know that it's not the coach that is getting the most from the team rather than the manager?

No surprise him been sacked was terrible and dropping a load of first teamers wasnt a good start.

Meh im not sure whether we would have him back but I think we need a right hand man for Rafa

We need someone who can motivate the players week in week out. That is Rafa's weakness and that's what Lee is best at.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
