    If you have seen us since Rafa took charge then you have probably noticed that we play without heart and pride in some games.

    Lee is very good at motivating the players. His warm up together with the players in every game is a classic. The problem for Lee is that he isn't that good at the tactical bit.
    Just believe and you never know what will happen.

    According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

      WHAT?

      Did you see us in Istanbul? Did you see us in the FA cup final? Did you see us in the champions league semis against Chelsea?

      I suppose you're right, look at all the heart and passion we shaowed in games when Ged and sammy were there.

          I'm sorry to hear Pako has gone but no-one is bigger than the club and we have to move on to replace him.

          Two names spring to mind: Gary McAllister and Sammy Lee.

          The heart says Gary Macca but the head says Sammy Lee because he's a very well respected coach with all his FA badges and he speaks Spanish from his days at Osasuna.

          Macca is available as he's just doing media work but it might still be too soon after the sad loss of his wife. Sammy's managerial career didn't get off to the best of starts and he could be looking for a new job soon.

          I think our next number 2 should be:

          * An ex-Liverpool player
          * A highly respected ex-Liverpool coach
          * A former international
          * A local lad who loves the club
          * Someone who has played in Spain
          * Someone who can speak Spanish
          * Someone who has all his FA coaching badges
          * Someone who has worked for his country dealing with big name players
          * Available immediately or out of work very soon

          Stand up Sammy Lee. Oh, sorry, you are standing up...

          Sadly, Sammy is a great coach but, like Steve McClaren, Brian Kidd and Colin Harvey to name just three, he is probably a better 'number two' than manager. I sincerely hope he doesn't get the boot from Bolton but, despite last weekend's win, I think he won't last the season...

            No you didn't.

            Look AFII, jst ****ing admit it, you don't know how good Sammy Lee is at motivating players and you don't know how poor Rafa is at it either.

            If Sammy Lee was SOOOOO good at motivating player then why have Bolton looked like they couldn't give a **** about playing football all season?

              You did watch LFC play before Sammy left didn't you? Did you notice how we lost our motivation and went and won the Champions league when he left despite being utter **** the season before and with virtually the same squad?

                Yes I did but you're right that I don't know for sure how good Rafa and Lee is in motivating the players

                  Yep, that was ALL down to Sammy Lee not Ged or Thommo whereas the five trophies we won in 2001 had **** all to do with Sammy...

                    Look mate, I have no axe to grind with Sammy Lee, I am not claiming anything about his coaching or motivational qualities because I don't know the facts.
                    The problem is that AFII is spouting made up ****e about how Rafa is poor at motivaing the players and Sammy Lee is a genius at it.
                    I'm sorry, but there is absolutely ZERO evidence to back this up and I am merely pointing that out.

                        I didn't say that Sammy Lee is a genius in motivating the players. I said that it's his strength.

                        I don't think there is a coincidence that we have played with less self confidence since Pako left but that is my opinion.

                          Sometimes it just wears you down though doesn't it?

                          The most important thing about the next coach/assistant if there is to be one is that it must be Rafa's decision and not just a ex-player who is out of work.

                              This is what you said:

                              We need someone who can motivate the players week in week out. That is Rafa's weakness and that's what Lee is best at
                              Regardless of what you said about Sammy Lee, which is STILL MADE UP ****E; how the **** do you justify that comment about Rafa?

                                If you read my re-posted reply from August 31st (the middle one) I think Sammy fits the bill as a good Assistant Manager for many reasons including being an ex-Red and England international (which the senior players like Stevie G & Carra will respect). Not least amongst those reasons is that I believe he still speaks Spanish and can act as a good link between Rafa and the payers which seems to have disappeared since Pako left.

                                He's also a top-class coach although you're right in saying that none of us know whether he is a good motivator or not. Perhaps we should ask Kevin Nolan or Gary Speed?
