Players who move off the ball and demand that it be passed to them. They're the type of players we need.Originally posted by AFII View PostWingers, strikers, defenders. What players is a must for Rafa to sign in January?
We have holes in our starting XI, anyone can see that.
I think that Rafa must sign a central defender, one winger and one very creative second striker in January if we will have a chance to win the title.

Well said that man!!Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostIt's not necessarily all about players for me.
We need to improve our passing and movement as unit, as a team.
Too often we're static and the player in possession has little or no options on, or simply isn't talented enough to execute the pass.
Look at Arsenal's players today, all comfortable in possession with the confidence in each other to pass to a player under pressure in tight areas of the pitch. And they nearly always had multiple pass options.
That's partly down to coaching and tactics, and having talented players.

Is Heinze even getting a game for Madrid? Could he still be injured? I think that would be worth a punt because he could replace Riise (has been poor for a few seasons now) and cover CB. That would cover two bases. We should make a sneaky bid to get Anelka back. He has scored goals everywhere and would not turn us down. We need to replace Kuyt and Voronin. We should still have a chunk of cash left and we should go for a top class winger. My choice would be Alves who would give us decent supply from the right. If we could sell Riise, Kuyt, Voronin, Pennant, Carson it would be good business but I think it's unlikely that we can raise cash from sales.
I haven't completely lost hope but I'm coming to conclusion we ain't good enough to win the title this year. I fear we will be out of it by Christmas. Injuries, some poor players and Rafa's tactics are all playing a part.

What we lack is players who threaten the goal!Originally posted by AFII View PostWingers, strikers, defenders. What players is a must for Rafa to sign in January?

Ferguson said this weekend that players like Rooney, Ronnie, Tevez and Nani pretty much guarantee you goals.
You just can't disagree with that, and he didn't even mention players like Giggs and Saha. SAF has bought these players over a number of years, and it's something we need to do ourself with our new wealth. I have no doubt Rafa will do this, and hopefully he'll start in Jan with replacing one of either Crow, Crouch or Kuyt, with a striker some notches up.
We also of course need a winger with an eye for both goal and good crosses.
As for defenders I would like us to put it on hold until the summer(Unless something u just can't refuse comes along) and just concentrate on players who will get us more goals. This because IMO we are relatively better in defending than attacking.
I don't know what players we potentially could get in Jan, except Anelka, which atleast would be an improvement on our 3 uninjuered strikers.Last edited by Morten_nogamst_Pedersen; 29-10-07, 08:17 AM.

attacking fullbacks and a faster striker to play with Torres

Realistic targets in January....
Aguero and Chiellini/Heinze
Would cost around £22m if Cheillini moves to us and Sissoko to Juve.
If you add a class winger then it would probably be around £40m and that is probably to much if we don't sell Riise and Crouch.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

We'll never burn that much money in a jan window. Would love for it to happen though.Originally posted by AFII View PostRealistic targets in January....

Well, if we don't move for Aguero in January then someone else will probably do that. He is £22m player available on the cheap.Originally posted by Morten_nogamst_Pedersen View PostWe'll never burn that much money in a jan window. A good valid point you make there mateOriginally posted by andyinswinton View PostThrow Insua, Lucas and Leto in against Cardiff and see how they go. I'd much prefer to give all three of them a go if they do instead of playing Voronin or Riise in the next league game.
I'd also give Babel a run with Crouch up front as he might actually know where the goal is. The current strikers don't have a clue where it is.
