The negativity on here tonight is astounding. No doubt I will get a torrent of abuse but I think Kuyt is a very good player who works his bollocks off for the team but just hasn't got the breaks he deserves this season.

Teddy Sheringham didn't exactly score a **** load of games or Dennis Bergkamp for that matter but but you have to look what they bring to the team, Kuyt gives everything for the team every single week, the fact is that Kuyt is just this seasons scapegoat regardless of what he does.

      Choices in poll above.
Tu be really honest with you, he's ****e, no fookin pace, no skill, and no knowlege of what to do with the fookin ball when in front of the Goal(except from the penalty spot)

Gety rid i say, and get a good quality Striker to complement Torres.

Yeah but they looked class and they at least scored on a fairly regular basis. Kuyt's only league goals that I remember this season have come from the spot FFS, and he's played most of the games

Kuyt should be sold. That is all.

Sorry Gazzla but the guy has rubber feet. It was like watching a game of pinball when it came to him. Countless times he would receive a pass only for it to explode off his feet then he would chase it down only to lose out and look like a ****.

Even if he is playing out of position, his fundamental skills are sorely lacking. Bergkamp and Cantona played in similar roles but I remember them scoring regularly.

Kuyt reminds me alot of Drogba - in the sense Drogba took two seasons to beome excellent in the EPL and was, well rubbish till then - in many ways that Kuyt is - poor first touch, takes the wrong option ( i guess both of these players didnt get until football till late - and it really showed (now with kuyt and initially with dider)

difference between drogba and kuyt has, is that drogba has the physical attributes to suceed, of pace and power that Kuyt lacks, and therefore will kuyt ever make it?

I think we should get behind him until the end of the season. ultimately as a striker if he has not scored enough goals, then he should be moved on, but we should really, as fans, try to get Kuyt to suceed.
              We need better attacking players!

              Torres aint enough

Kuyt is there to put the ball into the back of the net or create passes theat lead to the ball going into the back of the net on a consistent basis mot run around like a headless chook, miss sitters, and cause confusion.I think we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future. As if rafa is going to sell him mid-season when he's stubborn enough to keep crouch on the bench all this time.

Cantona no matter how big a **** was an exceptional player but I found an interesting stat about Bergkamps scoring record at Arsenal, here are his goalscoring stats for the last 7 years he was at Arsenal.

Season Club Games Goals Strike rate
                          2005-06 Arsenal 24 2 0.08
                          2004-05 Arsenal 29 8 0.28
                          2003-04 Arsenal 28 4 0.14
                          2002-03 Arsenal 29 4 0.14
                          2001-02 Arsenal 33 9 0.27
                          2000-01 Arsenal 25 3 0.12
                          1999-00 Arsenal 28 6 0.21

People are slagging off Kuyt's lack of goal threat so thank god Bergkamp never player for Liverpool with those stats.

But Bergkamp was a supremely skillful and gifted footballer, and Kuyt is mainly a workhorse.
Stats are not all, which I am sure you know. Watching the games is much more important as numbers can only tell a tiny bit of the story of what goes on on the pitch.

That's exactly my point but because Kuyt allegedly doesn't score goals (despite scoring 5 in 14 appearances for us this season) people have decided he's **** despite the other aspects of his game that he brings to the team.

Bergkamp was the perfect illustration of how stats can be used to make someone look a hell of a lot worse than they are.
