Don't agree with that at all, fredo.Originally posted by fredo View PostMate even if the tide is turning opinion wise that doesn't mean that these people are right. It's even more important that Rafa sticks to it in these moments because he's doing things right.
No manager will get things their way so we're not certain to have a better one at the helm if he's gone tomorrow.
His blind spots appear to me to be:
1. He buys 'versatile' players who can give a number of 'options' as far as team set-up is concerned. Torres and Alonso excepted. He asks these players to then carry out instructions which in some cases appear to be alien to them.
2. He changes formation/players too much or at wrong times.
3. He doesn't appear to create a 'loving' atmosphere with the players - they are pawns in his game of chess.
4. He's overly tactically minded. The PL is not chess, it's draughts.
Number 4 leads to the others so, imo, the last item listed above is the actual resaon he will not win us the PL.Francis.
...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool
And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left
A defensive mid for £18m?

I suspect almost everyone would say Hiddink but that'd be about it. Wouldn't it?Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostHiddink.
Hiddink seems to me an unrealistic target. Are there any genuinely attainable, possibly available managers who you think could do a better job?
I'm struggling for candidates and would like to see Rafa get the time and money (Snoogy Doogy, anyone?) to finish the job. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The tide is turning after we put in two totally dominating performances against two teams who set their stalls out for a draw and put 11 men behind the ball in both games.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostWhether you or I like it or not, the tide is turning. It's a perfectly reasonable question to ask after yet another dreadful night. As I said, I just want to see where the fans (on this site, at least) stand on the issue.
Don't get me wrong - I love Rafa dearly, but you'd have to be an ostrich not to acknowledge that the tide is turning against Rafa. I've even read a negative post by REDSCOUSER - something I don't think I've ever seen.
Lady luck is not with us.Nothing to do with the manager or team who were faultless in the last two games.
Most "Fans" on here need to get a grip.
I really hope we win the CL Final for the second time in 4 yrs just to see our fairweather fans squirm.

Jos...
Argh! I can't do it. **** off Mourinho.
If we came calling for Hiddink I think we would get him Shaggy. He could have his fun with Russia in Euro 2008 and then we could be the last really big job of his career.
Either way, Hiddink and Mourinho are the only two names that leap off the page.

Interesting new shout. Personally I worry about his temperament. Remember the Citeh debacle?Originally posted by Frank Leroux View PostEh....might I suggest, emm, the baldy guy down at Reading....
He's a lot to prove at the top level still IMO.

In the aftermath of a result like tonight's, which is unfortunately not a one-off and can't be dismissed as such, my instinctive reation would be a heavy-hearted 'no'.
But then I see the man speak and it's obvious he's hurting just as much, and cares just as much, and I want it all to work out for him and I wish I could climb inside the telly and give him a quick cuddle, stroke his beard and tell him it'll all be fine. And he'll assure me that we're still in the title race and that we'll win at Stamford Bridge, Highbury and Old Trafford, and that Voronin will perform like a cross between Maradona, Roger Hunt and Roy Race for the rest of the season. And I'll believe every word and go to sleep with a soppy grin on my face, as if I'd just been blown a kiss by Maria off Coronation Street.
But when I wake up, all the old nagging doubts come back and I admit I don't know what to think anymore. Really. I just don't know. And that, for me, is possibly the saddest thing of all.

Of course he would be a bit of a punt. But he knows the English game.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostInteresting new shout. Personally I worry about his temperament. Remember the Citeh debacle?

What interests me about Coppell is he appears to be a little eccentric, perhaps a little too intelligent for the game? He has a nice dry wit. He's patently (if not actually stated) a fan of the club.
His personality type seems to me to fit in with the lineage Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish.Francis.
