Their "clear" statements, from where I'm standing, have only muddied the waters and increased the speculation and cleared up nothing, which is why the speculation persists and there are several reports today in the Mirror, Times etc that Rafa is on the brink again. Almost makes me think there was an agenda against Rafa. To my mind, no official club statements have been released which declare unequivocal support for him, it is only subsequent reported comments from Gillett and Hicks which have backed him, and I think it is no coincidence that these happened after the fans' show of support for the manager.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

I can't say that £7m-£8m/window is to back a manager of a top club.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostHave you got any evidence that Rafa hasn't been backed?
I think that is evidence enough. This season is the first that he got more money to spend than that.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

They have made clear statements that the perceived split between Rafa and the board was a misunderstanding and was blown out of proportion and is now resolved.Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostTheir "clear" statements, from where I'm standing, have only muddied the waters and increased the speculation and cleared up nothing, which is why the speculation persists and there are several reports today in the Mirror, Times etc that Rafa is on the brink again. But your world is boring.Originally posted by fredo View PostLet's let it at that mate. If we were gonna agree on anything the world would be boring.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

If it's not something good coming from a journo you won't state that he's got it somewhat right in his article.Originally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostBrian Reade is by miles the best sports journo out there, and a red.
But I can't agree with some of what he's saying.
His article is mostly supposition, and that helps nobody.
Let's see what happens between now and the summer.
But as you say, let's wait and see.

You mean "no I haven't got any evidence"Originally posted by AFII View PostI can't say that £7m-£8m/window is to back a manager of a top club.

AFII, does it EVER, for one second, cross your mind that maybe, Jusssssst maybe, Rafa doesn't want to spend 30 million every window just for the sake of it.
Maybe, jusssssst maybe, he only buys the players he wants for the right prices.
Is that a possibility? Or does he want to spend 30 million every window?
Also, any talk of past seasons are irrelevant as it was under a different ownership.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Phil Neville wasn't a regular though and even when he did play he was surrounded by world class players. Kuyt does play regularly, cost £10million and isn't surrounded bu world class players, a few but not many.Originally posted by fredo View PostHe isn't 'average' as you say it because he's playing for a top club and for a top coach. Every team needs it's unfashionable player, United had Phil Neville playing for them in midfield and they still won trophies galore."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Yes.Originally posted by fredo View PostI won't dispute that. Would you really think I would be sitting here debating stuffs with a Red Chilli, a Squint and a pseudo Neil Young ?.

Here's what they officially said:-Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostThey have made clear statements that the perceived split between Rafa and the board was a misunderstanding and was blown out of proportion and is now resolved.
What else do they need to say?
Nothing, until some media hack comes along and stirs it all up again when we have a bad result.
On 22/11/07
On 25/11/07"We made a significant investment in the playing squad during the summer and desperately want this team to succeed.
"There are some very important games coming up in the next couple of weeks and all of us need to focus on winning those games and getting the best out of the players we already have at the club.
"We will leave any talk of buying or selling players until we come across to Liverpool in December and sit down with the Manager then."
On 16/12/07"Despite speculation in today's newspapers, there is nothing new to say.
"We had a good win yesterday and have got some very important games coming up starting with Porto on Wednesday, followed by Bolton and Reading, before Marseille and Manchester United in a few weeks.
"Both of us, together with Chief Executive Rick Parry, plan to meet with Rafa when we come over mid December to make decisions on the team's requirements at that time."
None of those statements makes it clear that they support Rafa and that he's the one they want managing the club going forward. Now are you surprised that the media hacks keep stirring things up everytime we have a bad result? I'm not, and I bet the club aren't either.A meeting was held this evening involving Tom Hicks, George Gillett, Foster Gillett, Rick Parry and Rafa Benitez which was wide ranging and positive.
The discussions were amicable and constructive. All those present are united in their desire to bring further success to the club.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

We're not talking about "supporting the manager" we're talking about this perceived split between the manager and the owners and the fact that the media keep stirring it up.Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostNone of those statements makes it clear that they support Rafa and that he's the one they want managing the club going forward. Also we're talking about these claims that Rafa's been frozen out and has no idea how much money he has to spend. All specualtion/lies

One, two, three, four...
Round and round and round we spin,
To weave a wall to hem us in,
It won't be long.
It won't be long.
How slow and slow and slow it goes,
To mend the tear that always shows.
It won't be long.
It won't be long.
It's hard enough losin'
the paper illusion
you've hidden inside,
Without the confusion
of findin' you're usin'
the crutch of a lie
To shelter your eye when you cry.
Round and round and round we spin,
To weave a wall to hem you in.
It won't be long.
It won't be long.
How slow and slow and slow it goes,
To mend the tear that always shows.
It won't be long.
It won't be long.
Now you're movin' too slow
and wherever you go
there's another beside.
It's so hard to say no
to yourself and it shows
that you're losing inside,
When you step on your pride and you cry.
Round and round and round we spin,
To weave a wall to hem us in.
It won't be long.
It won't be long.
How slow and slow and slow it goes,
To mend the tear that always shows.
It won't be long.
It won't be long.
How the hours will bend
through the time that you spend
till you turn to your eyes,
And you see your best friend
looking over the end
and you turn to see why,
And he looks in your eyes and he cries.
Round and round and round we spin,
To weave a wall to hem us in,
It won't be long.
It won't be long.
Thank you all very much..
