Thanjk you.

‘Been thinking about this too. We (Liverpool) have the ideal side to play attacking football but Rafa is too rigid in his tactics. For example, if Rafa was to set up a team like:
Reina
Carragher Agger Skrtel Dossena
Mascherano Alonso
Gerrard Keane Babel (or Kuyt)
Torres
And then told Mascherano and Xabi to sit in front of the back four, and Gerrard, Keane, Babel and Torres to interchange, run into spaces etc Agger, Mascherano and Alonso are all capable of hitting quality short and long passes, are comfortable on the ball and can ‘play football’. A back six of Reina, Carr Agger {can you see what it is yet?), Skrtel, Dossena and Mascherano are bullet proof. The front four have pace, ability and intelligence to cause mayhem.
I think Carrick has proved all his doubters wrong and he is composed and classy. He is also quicker than Barry and Hargreaves. I like Hargreaves though, so wouldn't mind him there either. Agree about Richards, forgot him.
theres no way criticizing a manager for his tactics is wrong because he knows better than you, so what if he does, but theres no hiding the fact that we need to play a more adventurous game against the lesser teams. I'd love to see us pass a team out the game like arse or man u, were extremely capable of doing it and and dont see why we dont do it week in week out. we scored 119 goals last year or something like that anyway, showing we dont play 'boring football' and its only a week into the season, things will improve.

So basically there are arguments and to be honest basically all English players (I'll let Carrick off as he has played about twice) have a record of international failure to their name. I think we do need to experiment as we need to find a blend of players capable and willing to play the sort of technical football that international football requires.
We have obvious and blatant deficiencies in our play and it is nearly all down to the players IMO. They lack intelligence and are used to the crutch of having foreign players around them at their clubs who can fulfill certain roles. Neither Terry or Ferdinand look as assured at international level as they do for their clubs and they are no matter what anyone says comparable in terms of talent with any centreback pairing in the world. Obviously it doesn't help having James in goal but they were still less than stellar when we had an on form Robinson who was at least a more predictable presence.
I agree that the likes of Young deserve a shout as there remains a small chance that they don't have the arrogance and ego of the existing team and might buckle down and work to play in a different fashion to what they do in their clubs.

I think we have in the past passed teams out of games but have lacked the cutting edge. Last season we lapsed at times but I think in Torres, Babel and Benayoun we did start to see a ruthlessness against the lesser teams added to superior posession football.
I think we need to work not so much on being more attacking in the way people think but on using counter attacks more quickly and making more space for one another. I think when we get space for ourselves we are already a good team.
In the two games this season the problem for me has been a lack of patience and trust between the players. The second half against Sunderland we improved vastly simply by being willing to play the ball to one another's feet and not looking for long low percentage balls as often.

I think the so called golden generation has well and truly passed now. Im a big fan of beckham but I cant see what use he is to the team now, maybe have him involved for team building if he wants but his playing days at international level are well and truly over.
The team mentioned above with Richards in at rb and barry and hargreaves in at cm would be a decent team. Unsure as to agbonglahore up front, maybe a fit owen could still do a job and i reckon Rooney up top would be a great option. Things need to change in order to get this england set up challenging thats for sure.
