    I could go on.

I suppose they’re all alcoholics too.
Well certainly one of them is

But you still have to convince me that they have no insight into the game.

I’m not bothered either way whether I convince you or not but I know what I said is right.

Because someone has played football at the highest level, it categorically does not automatically follow that they should be able to offer any more insight into the game than someone who hasn’t. Someone like Rafael Benitez.

        1. Benitez should be sacked and replaced by Mourinho.
        2. Benitez can’t spot a player.
        3. Mascherano is poor.
I know of point 1, can't say I was aware that he also said 2 and 3. But given that he did say those things, while I will stop short of calling him a cunt I will go as far as saying Whelan is a mind-numbingly moronic stupid ****wit who really should now just keep his mouth shout so that he may retain what little dignity he has left. Being a midfield maestro himself I'm particularly astounded that he said Mascherano is poor, but then again knowing what nonsense he has spouted in the past perhaps I shouldn't be.

I never said you had red tinted glasses on mate, I apologise if that is what was picked up, not intentional Sahggy,
However the guy who started this thread obviously has, if he started this thread due to not agreeing with an opinion of an lfc legend and there for declares him to be a cunt, would you not agree????

If an ex player has an opinion that our present manager should be replaced by someone he regards as a good candidate, especially when the team is playing poorly, (as they were at the time, looking like they were going out of the CL early)and in his opinion, has spent alot of money, and if you love the club, and gave them your all when you played for them, and want whats best, are you allowed to express that opinion?????
We could have seen Rafa replaced by Klinsman, and he put his opinion forward as to who he thought was the best man, and available.

He doesnt think that he can spot a player, can he give that opinion or should he keep his mouth shut, he doesnt go on to the tabloids giving out does he, he says it when he is asked, in this kind of situation.
We have some **** players, and some **** buys, I think it is to do with budgets more than Rafa, but I am open minded enough to see how some one can come up with that opinion, are you????

Lastly, I didnt know that he didnt rate mascherano, you didnt see the coverage, so I will just confirm with you that it was Dunphy that said he was a donkey, but a good one, dont think that R Whelan mentioned him at all, in fact I think he rates him from listening to his commentary on games in the past, but if you supply a link to this claim, that would be great.

I know Shaggy can fight his own battles etc but look at where he came into this debate on the first post on this page. That's exactly what he said.

"Just because someone has played at the highest level, it doesn’t necessarily follow that he has any sort of insight into the game".
and thats the strangest statement I have read on the internet in a long long time

"I work as a sales manager for a start up IT company. But just because i do this, doesnt mean that i have any insight into sales management"......lmao
                  yes that sounds perfect lmao

                    Have you been drinking?

You’re either pissed, or trying to break the world record for semantics-related pedantry.

                      Oh dear.

You don’t seem to be able to discern playing football at the top level from offering insight into it. They are two very different things.

Some can offer stacks of insight, some offer barely any at all.

                      Dispute that.

Pah, as the current record holder I can categorically say 'he has no chance'
