the second half today for me is why rafa must learn from, regardless of how many of you on here tell me to **** off. for the vast majority of teams we'll play in the premiership i do believe that we should play to our strengths instead of setting up to negate the strengths of the opposition. OUR SECOND HALF DISPLAY PROVES THE VALIDITY OF THIS POINT.
    I'd say this :

only a matter of time before our luck ran out. we've played poorly all season and have won inspite of this. this was never going to continue for ever.

same old **** again this year. we should not be losing to teams like city or drawing against stoke at home. false dawn again. what a joke!

was bang out of order mate.

at half time it was very accurate. but hey rafa changed his tactics and we changed it around.

bar the utd game the second half today was the first time this season in the league i've genuinely seen us play well. in my opinion this was due to playing to our strengths and not worrying the slightest about what a midtable defensively lightweight team have to offer.

ffs it was a match thread, a wave of emotion that goes from absolute failure to complete joy from one minute to the next. my comments about a false dawn was an expression of my frustration of how crap we'd played in the first half - plenty of possession but very little penetration.

i still doubt rafa's philosophy i still think kuyt is turd i hope we don't put ourselves in this position against midtable ****e again. i stand by my comment taht we should not be losing to teams like city nor drawing against the likes of stoke BUT today like every other fan i'm just overjoyed we came back from 2 nil down.

I understand the emotion, I was well pissed off. But how can you blame Rafa for the first half performance? Both yourself and I have stated our confusion with the Keane signing as it changed the way we played at the end of last season. Today we reverted back to that formation and it didn't work, SG was largely ineffective and we didn't give Torres the service. If Rafa ****s up have a go, fair enough, but today he was spot on with his changes and his golden boy came up with the winner.

it wasnt very accurate though was it. You were judging a season (same ****, false dawn, a joke etc etc) on ONE half of a game. Not a few bad results, or even one game, but a half!! I know who I think the joke is...

i think in the first half we were more interested in negating what city had to offer and it cost us. as you correctly state the likes of torres and gerrard hardly touched the ball. we played with our shackles removed in the second half and we were much better for it.

as for kuyt coming up with the winner - i'm really chuffed for the lad and i hope this ends his barren spell because i know full well that regardless of how badly kuyt plays he'll make the starting 11 9 times out of 10, so like every other fan i'd rather see him hit a vein of form and score a few goals.

I don't think he was mate. More like 4 seasons and a bit of trying to figure out what Rafa is doing.

I personally think Yossi was our best performer even considering his small amount of time on the pitch, i didnt see him lose the ball once i think, about 4 or 5 times he used some skillful tricks and then a wide pass to an overlapping aurelio/dossena,

To be fair if he hadn't missed that sitter we probably wouldn't be having this conversation!

I do like the fact that we seem to play better in the second half as it gives teams less time to come back. I'm not sure if it's on purpose but we seem to play at 50-60% for the first half, content with passing it around without really creating much, and then second half really stepping it up.

why don't you wait till the end of the season then? that first half had all the characteristics of deja vu. the players turned it around and good on em. i still don't think we should ever be losing 2 nil at half time against the likes of city. nor do i think that our play overall this season merits our position. we've shown great character in what coming back from behind 3 times so far this season. as far as i'm concerned this shows that rafa's game plan has failed and that the shackles are removed from the team who are then allowed to express themselves.

I've said it about him many times. He is the kind of player that wins you titles. He was really **** starting on the left for us, but used on the right in certain games or coming on as a sub he can be the difference between a loss and a draw or draw and a win cracking player.

an improved 2nd half performance is clearly a characteristic of a rafa team. i remember plenty of games where its nil nil at half time where we played within ourselves only to up the tempo in the second half and destroy the opposition. its as if the first half dictates the tactics of the second.

rafa clearly has one over the likes of me here. i always thought football was played over 90 mins, rafa's approach seems to be simply beating the team over the second 45 mins. clearly worked today, even though we were playing catch up.

It's like he is waiting to see the hand before he makes his bet. Well if we keep getting results and I am being entertained I am more than happy, don't think the plan was to give them a two goal head start, and doubt we will be able to come back from too many of those. Bearing this in mind though, I'd wait for the full time whistle before going off on one.
