What sort of specialist are we using then?

LIVERPOOL'S anxious wait to discover the extent of the knee injury that kept Fernando Torres out of Sunday's goalless draw at home to Fulham is set to continue after the forward remained in Spain to undergo further assessment.
Torres travelled to Barcelona at the weekend for a consultation with Dr Ramon Cugat, a knee specialist, amid fears that he had suffered a recurrence of the problem that has already forced him to miss five weeks of the season after it flared during Liverpool's FA Cup third-round replay against Reading in January.
CHECKS
The 26-year-old has undergone a scan in an attempt to establish the extent of the damage to his right knee, but a prognosis will be determined only after more checks have been carried out in the coming days.
"Fernando Torres has been examined by a knee specialist in Spain," the club said.
"He received treatment and will continue to do so over the next few days, with the injury being reassessed later this week."

I'd say it's nothing too serious. Thing is, rest might be the only cure and close to the end of the season, he might be on extended leave to save his world cup.

Yes, but it is clearly not so simple.Originally posted by Taxi View PostI hate this resting player ****e. Play Thursday and then Sunday and he needs a fecking rest. Try working for a living you bunch of queens.
I work 12 hour shifts, manual work, heavy lifting, running up and down steep steps, 2 days, 2 nights which fecks up your sleep and then at the end of the shift I run back home for 30 minutes with a rucksack on my back that weighs a couple of stone.
I obviously know I'm not competing in the premiership, but I'm still exercising to my maximum. They train a couple of hours a day and play 90 minutes twice in a week. Big deal.
The players could play twice a week no problem. That is clear. But take a look at horse racing. The horses could run twice a week too, but the times would gradually get slower and slower and the wouldn't be very successful at all. Horses only run once or twice a month.
I think there might be something to it considering all of these sport scientists and managers seem to have bought into this idea that to get the best out of high performance athletes you have to regulate and limit their energy expeniture.!

I do wonder what effect the fact that we always use outside specialists has on the dates of return we get quoted. It is clear that on many occasions it is in the interests of the doctors to want the players back playing ASAP as that is what we want to hear/pay for as opposed to wanting the injury to repair as well as possible for the long term."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
