I followed SPL this season and he was very solid. Good hight, good speed and in terms of passing he's been compared by some with Dutch legend Frank De Boer.

18-year-old defender Danny Wilson is said to have turned down a lucrative contract offer at Rangers in favour of a switch to England.

Danny Wilson will complete his move from Rangers to Liverpool this week after reportedly turning down a new £12,000 a week deal to stay in Glasgow. The Daily Express reports the 18-year-old defender is expected to command a £3 million transfer fee for his switch to Anfield, with performance-related add-ons on top of that figure.

Defender Wilson only broke into the first team at Ibrox this season, making his debut in a Co-operative Insurance Cup match at Dundee. He went on to play 25 times at the back before his season was ended by a thigh injury with six games left to play.

Out-of-contract in the summer of 2011, Rangers had hoped to hold onto their starlet by offering him the prospect of regular first team football, as well as further Champions League experience.

But instead Wilson, who was also attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, has elected to take his chances of making it in the English top flight.

First team players Daniel Agger, former Ger Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Jamie Carragher, Philipp Degen and Martin Skrtel stand in his way of making an immediate impact in Rafael Benitez’s starting 11.

If he does sign and doesn't get loaned back then I wonder what the future holds for Skrtel.

Would people be happy with the Greek, Wilson and Ayala as backup to Carra and Agger?

Skrtel is valuable and out of all our centrebacks is the most at risk of being sold. IMO.

I'd cash in if we could get £8m+
