Great news.
Rangers defender Danny Wilson set for Liverpool switch
Wilson had become a regular at the heart of Rangers' defence at 18 years old
Rangers have agreed a three-year deal in principle with Liverpool over the sale of defender Danny Wilson.
Ibrox chief executive Martin Bain insists the move will net the club £2m, rising to £5m with on add-ons linked to games played.
Wilson was absent from the squad that left Glasgow on Tuesday for Rangers' pre-season tour in Australia, which was attributed to a hamstring problem.
The 18-year-old centre-back turned down an offer to remain at Ibrox.
A product of Rangers' Murray Park youth project, Wilson had only 12 months of his Ibrox contract remaining.
Danny was entering the final year of his contract with the club and had indicated that he felt it was in his interests to move on

Had the player allowed his current deal to expire, Rangers would have expected to receive only £500,000 in compensation.
"Danny was entering the final year of his contract with the club and had indicated that he felt it was in his interests to move on," Bain told the Rangers website.
"Given that and the value of the offer from Liverpool it was deemed appropriate to accept that offer given the player wanted to go."
Rangers had been hopeful that Wilson would sign a contract offered to the player in April.
606: DEBATE
He is tall and a natural born leader and would fit finely into our squad
Irrational Explanation
The day after he scored his first goal for Rangers, in a 4-1 win over Hearts on 27 March, manager Walter Smith said he expected Wilson to follow the example of fellow Rangers teenager John Fleck by signing a contract extension.
However, that did not come to fruition and Bain admitted that the two sides had yet to reach agreement and that Liverpool had made an enquiry.
Wilson became a first-team regular at Ibrox last season and made 24 appearances for the Scottish Premier League champions.

I hadn't heard of him until we have been linked. I've heard somewhere that he can fill in at left back. I'm not a fan of using central defenders as fullbacks just because they have some passing range and are left/right footed. Although seeing that we're pretty desperate and he's a young player blooding him in the first team as a left back perhaps isn't a bad option I prefer the thought to sticking Agger out there. If we sign a first choice left back (say Figeroua for example) and he is the back up, then we're doing alright. If that was the initial intention.
I'm not a fan of letting Kyrgiakos go regardless. Last season he showed he was quality and when Skrtel, Carra and Agger played like **** he held our defence together. He's an experienced player too, something that we can't expect an 18 year old to do. If there are major defensive problems or injuries I'd hate the thought of potentially ****ing up an 18 year old that we've paid good money for.
Kyrgiakos also, as mentioned in other threads gives us that dominance in the air that we're slightly lacking without. Wouldn't be happy if he was sold, especially because he's not exactly the kind of player that would fetch much.
Wilson is tall by normal people's standards at just under 6 2, but compared to the Greek at 6'4 he's not going to be that dominating force unless he's got a great leap on him or he has incredible strength etc.

Living in Glasgow, I've seen quite a bit of this boy and IMO is the ideal long term replacement for JC. He's quick, has a good passing game and reads the game well. I watched him a few times in last seasons CL and he was pretty impressive in some of the games.
One thing he is not is a LB, so no point in trying to convert him. I would have no hesitation letting the Greek go if we could acheive £2 Million, I personally see him as a potential liability with his mistakes being more high profile than his performances. This boy would do well as cover for Skittles / Big Dan / JC.

He's only 18, plenty of time to mould him and bring him on gently in the Premier League."Even men with steel hearts love to see a dog on the pitch". It generates a warmth around the ground that augurs well for mankind and that's what life's about. Trouble is these days you never see a dog on the pitch".
