also, to wade into the arguement, ashley cole is the best full back at the moment slightly ahead of both evra and lahm.
My boss is a City season ticket holder and he thinks Bridge is absolutely gash. Poor mentality, positioning, injury prone and too old, not to mention his hideously high wages. Aurelio IMO is a much much better player than Bridge with the only thing they have in common being that they're both injury prone.

I'd even go as far as saying Insua is a better player with the potential to be WAY better than Bridge ever was or is. I don't think we should have sold him.

Cole, i agree, is one of the best left backs in the world but he's a cunt.

The lad is 18......IF ayala is going, we could do with Kelly and Wilson coming through over next few seasons. Carra has a few more seasons and can pass on his experience to these lads.

Agger is injury prone and Skrtel i am not convinceed is good enough.

You hardly could. He only played a handful of games.

However he'll be on BIG wages and is obviously older. I'd probably steer clear of Bridge to be honest.

RANGERS can confirm that a deal in principle has been agreed with Liverpool to take defender Danny Wilson to Merseyside.

The 18-year-old defender was due to fly to Australia this evening for the Light Blues' pre-season tour.

However after months of speculation Liverpool contacted the club and finally agreed a deal for the youngster.

With Wilson due to depart the country a deal was agreed in principle with Roy Hodgson's team but remains subject to paperwork being completed.

A product of the Murray Park youth project, Wilson had just twelve months of his Rangers contract remaining.

Chief Executive Martin Bain said: "We have agreed a deal in principle with Liverpool for the transfer of Danny Wilson.

"Liverpool's offer will see the club receive £2million up front with add-ons linked to games played taking the total value of the deal to £5million.

"Danny was entering the final year of his contract with the club and had indicated that he felt it was in his interests to move on.

"Given that and the value of the offer from Liverpool it was deemed appropriate to accept that offer given the player wanted to go.

"We are aware that with Kevin Thomson and Danny leaving the club in the last week that there is a need to add to the first team squad.

              2milllion for such a hot prospect.....great deal.

With Shelvey and him we could have saved ourselves 50million+ if they turn out to be as good as promised !!!

I hope you're right, but I haven't seen enough of either of them to know how likely that is.

His birthday is on 27th December. Am I right in saying he misses out on qualifying as home-grown by 5 days?

How good is the scots lad? What type of player? An out and out stopper like Skrtel or a more cultured defender? Also how tall and good in the air is he? Oh how we miss big Sami

Sounds like a reasonable deal for me, this Wilson one. Puts to bed the idea that we can't afford him. Clearly Rafa wasn't being offered the funds, and also, I think clearly it would demonstrate that a lot of our signings are not necessarily Roy's or in deed Rafa's but actually down to the scouting staff's recommendations.
                        Really?

He's a good prospect. Nothing more. Lets not get carried away.

Ibrox chief executive Martin Bain insists the move will net the club £2m, rising to £5m with on add-ons linked to games played.

He'll be classed as a foriegn player. Only players who have been at a club affiliated to the FA or Welsh FA for 36 months prior to the season in which they turn 21 count.

                                Reds agree Wilson deal

Liverpool Football Club have this evening confirmed they have agreed a deal in principle for the transfer of Danny Wilson.

Wilson, 18, established himself in the centre of defence at Rangers last season and landed the Scottish Football Association Young Player of the Year trophy after making 24 appearances for the Ibrox side.

Not being a great watcher of Scottish football i don't know much about this kid. A couple of Gers fans i know have described him as a "Rough Diamond"
