Thanjk you.

You need to take the blinkers off mate and take a look at his overall ability and technique.
Does he have the right attributes to play in pellegrini's pass, pass, move pass style. you just need to look at the midfielders that played at villareal under his stewardship - senna, pires, cazorla - all really good technical players.
Lucas did a job under benitez but if pellegrini comes in then the focus will change from catenaccio to tactics orientated towards attacking and opening teams up.
We need a new skill set to play this type of football and I dont think some of our players have it. Lucas is one of them but he isnt the only one.
Lucas would look a lot better if the players in front of him moved a bit more.

Spot on - from how he's performed since he's been at Anfield he should be our back up holding MF
That being said I am sure he was an attacking MF in Brazil so depending on who comes in should well influence how he plays
You've answered your own question there. When he's been a holding player he's not been good. He is actually a fairly attacking player naturally and his natural game is to get involved and be box to box, scoring a few goals and playing intricately in the final 3rd, not hitting hollywood balls.

very true. he is the kind of guy who is running around like a mad man on and off the ball when a team is sitting on its 18 yard boxes. his off the ball running in these situations is quite good i think, he makes a lot of these runs and it was justice when he got that ball back vs Benfica cause most go unnoticed
His ability and technique are very good, he rarely gives the ball away and he is a good passer, he basically got vilified for simply not being Alonso.
Was my argument very early on in the season, when it seemed i was the only fan who liked him.
However i do believe that he was held back this year being asked to play in a more defensive role by Rafa, i think given time he will shine! He didnt really have many bad games last season, i can only think of a few.. Blackburn away springs to mind.
I think under a more attack minded manager this guy might flourish, and you never know, Babel may even come along too.
