I hope Gerrard comes back with a better attitude and ability to guide the team, like a Captain. If not, go play for Madrid or whoever.

      Welcome Roy...

...and do you know what, I think he might just be what we need:

      - His appointment means everyone in the Premiership immediately has lower expectations of us this year
      - "Star" players might get cashed in, leaving the die-hard reds behind like Pepe...
      - Roy's buys won't be the Messi's of this world, but he could bring in the right pieces to the jigsaw to come in and do a role and do it well... just like the Alan Kennedy, Stevie Nicol and Dieter Hamann's of our past...

Maybe, just maybe Roy could find a great blend of hard-workers and flair to bring pride and integrity back through those Shankly Gates...

I don't think his religious affiliation is remotely relevant.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Excuse me while I try to be realistic and positive.

Hodgson is the best man for the job in the current state of the club. A Big Name manager would demand millions to spend which as we all know we don't have. There was never a chance of us attracting a Big Name until the ownership is sorted out.

What Hodgson can do is get the best out of players and we have very good players. They didn't play well last season because of Rafa. If Hodgson can get the squad we have playing well again and enjoying their football then he'll be a success because the squad is good enough for top 4 as it is. If Babel stay's, I'd expect Hodgson to get the best out of him and for Babel to fulfill his potential. Same goes for Riera and Aquilani.

He's a footballing coach in the traditional sense and I've longed for the day when Liverpool play passing football as is the tradition of the club. I haven't enjoyed watching us play over the last few years, with Houiller and Rafa we played counter attacking negative football. Winning disguised this and while we were winning and competing I was content if not enamoured by the style of play. Enough is enough, if we aren't going to challenge at least let me enjoy watching us play like under Roy Evans.

Harry Redknapp alone made the difference in getting Spurs into the CL and I'm of the opinion that Hodgson can do the same for us, maybe not top 4 this season, but steady the ship and get some enojoyment back into being a fan and hopefully attract new owners so we can compete financially.

If the great ship Liverpool isn't steadied now, it will sink to unthought of depths. Stability on the field will bring stability in the stands and ultimately stability in the boardroom. We need to get behind Hodgson and our team and wait for these mercenaries to sell our club and to stop holding us to randsom.

We the fans can help him, but ultimately it will be the players that decide Hodgon's fate. Work your magic Roy and get the best out of them.

I'm pretty sure we never played counter attack under Rafa and that our style of grinding football was the football played under Paisley.

                            celtic? newcastle?

Have you heard the Wumours Bwad? I think Gerrard is going no matter who is in charge..

                              A few thoughts/questions:-

                              1. Roy, if he becomes our manager will have my backing, but he wasn't my first choice. I would have liked; 1. Rafa to stay, 2. Flores from Atletico, 3. Pellengrini, 4. That brazilian from Japan, 5. Roy.

                              2. Thank god we didn't get Martin "I always crack under pressure" O'Neil.

                              3. What is Roy's record of developing youth talent? We have quite a few young players on the verge of breaking into the first team, I'd like to see them given a go.

                              4. How many more back room staff will leave? There are dozens of them that were recruited in the last 6 years from scouts to coaches to technical staff who analyse games and make DVDs for the players..

                              5. If players haven't been consulted, why is this?

                              6. I think Roy is a better choice that Kenny, Kenny has been out of management to long and has done **** all since be bought the title at Blackburn.

                              7. What are Roy's expectations for next season? We've just come out of a terrible season, but the squad isn't that far away from pushing for the title IMO, despite what is said in the press and on most forums.

                              8. What does he think of Lucas?

                              9. Will he get any money raised through player sales?

                              10. Will he be flying out to South Africa to speak with the Spanish, Dutch and other LFC players out there this week? If he can't do this will he be phoning them?

                              11. If we assume a deal isn't even close with new owners will they want to bring their own man in when they take over? I don't want us ending up like Newcastle...

capello has (apparently) won league titles with 4 different clubs 9 times (over a 15 year period) so anybody saying he isn't a top class manager.......

i'd be making the best from the uncertainty with the FA and sign him up
