Transfers - Who is deciding who comes, who stays and who leaves?

While I understand that having a new manager coming in takes time to adapt to the place and assess the squad, and I appreciate that it's even more difficult to do this with the World Cup meaning players aren't back at training yet. I can't help but worry that our squad which wasn't overly big on experienced players is losing people with little signs of anyone else coming in (at present). With the season a month a away, If we don't start seeing players come in soon I will be worried, we're less than a month away from the start of the PL season and our European season only 10 days away, especially as we can't really afford a slow start.

I reckon we also need Joe cole and a decent left back to arrive in the next week if we are going to hang onto Torres. At the moment it's looking like a fire-sale. Just hope it's that Roy has been told he's got to sell before he can buy.

My stance is based on the decisions the powers that be have made since the tail end of last season. It's been well documented on here.

The baffling decisions relates to the fact that Purslow is putting his nose in transfer related matters and signing players without consultation with the manager. Quotes have backed that up.

What quotes are these? The ones where Roy says i spoke to him, but CP is dealing with the negotiations? Or are there other quotes too? Or the Insua one, which was set in motion before Roy's appointment, quite possibly at the bequest of the player...last year of his contract and all that, so maybe he didn't want to stay?

If he can't assert his authority, even if the transfer was instigated before he arrived (Purslow stated that no players would be bought and sold before the arrival of a new manager), then his hands are tied concerning certain matters.

Ever thought that Insua wanted to go? Or that we weren't that keen on keeping him...he was entering the last year of his contract (I think), so £5 million is a pretty good fee. Like Roy said, don't believe everything you read.

Roy has a quiet, dignified approach to the media, never says more than he has too...Rafa was quiet also, but also quite barbed and sharp with some of the things he said, something Roy has never been accused of.

Well, maybe you're right - there might be someone. However I seriously doubt any genuine Liverpool supporter wants that. So I guess your view is basically just a poorly-camouflaged attempt to smear people whose concerns you may not share but could still be sincerely held.
