Pepe will start. He only ever does light training and Hes been sitting on his fat arse all summer
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Yep Gerrard, Carra and Cole will be in the squad, probably on the bench. If the team in the first leg were able to win 2-0 away comfortably then why wouldn't they do the same in the home leg?

I think they have to be registered for the game and none of them have.

V this is the last match before the season starts. It's not a case of resting players as usual. They need to play to build up match fitness. I don't expect babel, kuyt or torts but I can't see why pepe couldn't play. The English lads could do with thr run and I'd expect see some of them at least

SB- Pepe Reina will be in no condition to play a competitive match. Trust me. You think just because he's a goalkeeper that he doesn't need to be fit. Trust me your being silly, he won't be in the squad

looking at our fixtures, due to players coming back from world cup late which is a bit of mare, is this the shortest pre-season ever?

a friendly cancelled against Al Hilal, followed by grasshopper and kaiserslautern friendlies were only a few first team squad players were used, then a game against robotnicki, one other friendly against munchengladbach which saw the english players given a run out - then another europa game....then thats it a week till the season -

with the likes of carra/johnson/gerrard/cole/agger/skrtel/insua/aurelio/kyriakos playing once or twice at most, reina/kuyt/babel/mascherano(ok he is ****ing off)/maxi/torres prob not playing once!! -

only lucas/ngog/cavalieri/aquilani and jovanovic having had real pre-season!

                it's nuts.

Same team as last time with Cole, Gerrard and Carra on the bench. Possibly Cole starting.

Dont know why we didnt try and put another friendly in.

Suppose we will have to rely on Gerrard getting a run out in the England game

Its pointless arguing about Reina and co. As Shaggy says, the latter world cup players havent been registered.

Pacheco is in though so hopefully we see a bit of him.

The Arsenal game is a major worry. I can see us not playing quite a few first choice players and playing them in a reserve game that week instead.

The make up of the four in that case (and the way they are deployed) is pretty important. If could be a very attacking 4-3-3esque formation or a more withdrawn one. Not that it need make a big difference against such weak opposition I suppose.

As to Vs contention that none of the players just back into training will be involved. I'd say it has to be a balancing act at this stage - we have a very limited period of time before the Arsenal game. This match represents a good opportunity to get people to understand how we play. I think we have to at least consider using some of them, certainly as substitutes. A two goal lead should allow us to more or less treat it as we would a friendly.

hard for everyone after world cup although dont remember it being this bad 2006.
