meh - europa league - at least i'm not that bothered what happens - as a result I think the players feel the same - which means with te pressure lifted we'll probably win 2-0 - hodgson did after all take fulham all the way to the europa final

anyway - i have been quite keen to use a mix of squaddies and youth in this competition and whilst part of me wants it to stay that way I do accept that maybe it's a good game to get some of the more senior players out there to find some form/confidence. At least travelling to holland isn't too much of a mission. I'd still lokk at a mixture of youth and first team though.

Strong side - couple of youngsters get there deserved chance. - With a view that on the bench we have Johnson/Kyriakos/Shelvey/Lucas/Ngog - 3 of them to come on to rest any senior players for weekend - ie shelvey/lucas for gerrard, ngog for torres etc

I know this might be controversial for some, but if I were Roy I'd be tempted to play a full strength side in an attempt to get some cohesion and develop a style of play by playing together regularly, in the hope that our performances (and results) in the Premiership will improve

Fernando Torres is in line to make his first Europa League appearance of the season after being named in Liverpool's 20-man squad for the clash with Utrecht.

Torres has only played 45 minutes of European football for the Reds since scoring twice against Benfica in April, but could be given the chance to further step up his match fitness when Roy Hodgson's men take on their Dutch opponents on Thursday night.

Hodgson has named a strong squad for the Reds' second group game, with Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger the only notable absentees from the travelling party.

The manager himself is travelling separately to the rest of the squad and will join up with the party when they arrive in Holland.
