Don't expect a philosophical debate on this and certainly don't expect to change opinions. Time, results and performances will look after this. The much maligned Lucas is now flavour of the month, we supporters are a fickle bunch.*************************

it's a difficult one to answer
i think the majority of fans, not just on EST, but practically every forum i've looked at, twitter, facebook, fans at the match, in the pun etc etc - that i have come across, want him out - in fact i'd say it's
90% want him out
5% completley baffled
5% want him to stay - but the only reasons they have for him staying is - "he hasn't been here long, it's not the liverpool way to sack a manager early, oh and he's a nice man" - thats about it.
Now treatment of him - yes it's a bit harsh and on one hand yeah maybe unfair - but on the other hand, not only is he totally out of depth (which can be excused), the way he has handled himself, and pretty much alienated the fans every time he speaks, has not done him any favours - add to that he's a multi-millionaire also - **** him - hodgson out
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

I'm not trying to disagree with any of you guys, just interested in your opinion. I listen to his interviews and think he gets his point across well, praises where necessary, gives underperforming players something to think about and generally respects the clubs tradition. It baffles me when its made out he disrespects the club in his interviews.

You see, I see the total opposite mate. No disrespect, but I am not alone so I'm wondering why you think that?Originally posted by CorkRed View PostI'm not trying to disagree with any of you guys, just interested in your opinion. Fair enough mate, good point. Maybe I'm just blind to Roys complete lack of respect for us supporters...Originally posted by billy_mac View PostDon't expect a philosophical debate on this and certainly don't expect to change opinions. He's rubbish and shouldn't have been anywhere near managing LFC.
For all the good Purlsow did in his part of getting rid of H&G he is very culpable of listening too much to his mate Henry Winter and giving the job to Hodgson.
While I don't agree with the personal abuse I can understand it 100%, everytime I hear him speak or see him on tv I have to turn it off/over or I find myself abusing an electronic device that can't defend itself.
In fact I'm sure my tv apologised to me the other night for having Roy on it's screen
He is an embarrassment in every way shape and form be it as a manager or as a human being talking about being the manager of LFCThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I think he was the right man to be in charge for the change over in ownership. A steady cool old head, not excitable that was willing to toe the line with all parties and act with diplomacy and with no agenda.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostOK, thanks for clarifying, although I don't for a moment think he's the right person to be in the forefront of that. For a start, he was terrible before any of that changed.
And he's a real **** in public who has failed to connect with the supporters. He has to take a lot of the blame for that. It's not like he hasn't had a supportive media to help him.
Times have changed. Managers used to be judged on results. You'd get the newspapers during the week, football focus on a saturday, and then the managers notes in the program. Now its a media frenzy with demand on sound bites and quotes hourly. Roy is certainly week and modern communicating but if results turn positive will people really care all that much what he says. He seems to be able to communicate with the players which is vital although this quote says it all about Roy communication skills ...Hodgson added: "Maxi Rodriguez is a very intelligent player. Despite the fact I do not speak Spanish and he doesn't speak that much English, we've always had a good understanding together". He'd be a great partner for pictonary!!*************************

Here's a selection of choice quotes from Roy I have blatantly nicked from elsewhere. I think they speak for themselves.Originally posted by CorkRed View PostI'm not trying to disagree with any of you guys, just interested in your opinion. After the 2-0 loss to Everton: “To get a result here would have been Utopia,” said the Liverpool manager. “But I can only analyse the performance. There is no point trying to analyse dreams.”
In answer to a journalist from Norway questioning the supply to Torres: 'Are you from Denmark?' Hodgson asked (he considers the Danish press too negative). 'No, Norway,' replied the visitor. 'Ah, two countries I never want to work in again,' he said.
Discussing how well Birmingham played against us: "It would have been a shame if we beat Birmingham today"
After signing Merieles - "We don't know his best position"
Talking about young prospect Jonjo Shelvey and obviously trying to inspire confidence: "He did well but the fact is he came on in extra-time and people were tiring.
Questioner - 'Is Torres better off playing as a lone striker or with someone alongside him?' Hodgson : 'I don't know'
Talking about the potential protest against the then owners, Hicks and Gillett before Sunderland: "When you've got a group of people protesting at the games, it doesn't help."
August 24th - "Hopefully in the next 36 games we can take some points"
Before the Manchester United game: " I've been involved in some big derbies in my career and you know how much they mean to the fans. It compares with Inter v Juventus. The Milan derby was a big occasion but the derby d'Italia was the real killer one, as it were. I didn't like losing in those games, which I did quite often. I did poorly so it would be nice to change that" - Liverpool lost 3-2
In regards Liverpool's worst start for 56 years: "I couldn't give a monkey's whether we're 16th or 18th at the moment."
After the 2-0 loss to Everton: ''I hope that fair-minded people see the game the same way. I think it’s a bit unfortunate that after such a good game of football, everything revolves around the fact that Liverpool didn’t win it.”
After the protests against the owners for the Sunderland game: "those people aren't making my job any easier"
On his special relationship with our nemesis Alex Ferguson: “I know Mr Ferguson is not really a Liverpool man,” said Hodgson, “so I’m a bit concerned about my excellent relationship with him. “I sincerely hope he forgives me for moving north and hopefully we can have a glass of wine together, maybe in secret."
“We didn’t score goals and Everton did but I refuse to accept that we were in any way outplayed or any way inferior. I watched the performance and the second half was as good as I saw a Liverpool team play under my management that is for sure.” Liverpool had just been completely outplayed and lost 2-0 to their local rivals
When questioned on the way to get the best out of a Liverpool team full of different types of players to Fulham: "What do you mean do my methods translate? They have translated from Halmsteds to Malmo to Orebo to Neuchatel Xamax to the Swiss national team."
On signing Poulsen: "For me, it was a very simple decision when I heard he - Poulsen - might be available at what we considered to be a very reasonable price. We need as many good players as we can get and if you let these opportunities pass you by, sometimes you can regret it."
On Liverpool conceding goals - "It is a problem we are letting in goals but with the offensive line-up we have that is going to be a risk." - Liverpool have managed just 7 goals in the league thus far, 15 less than the same stage last season
After the draw against Sunderland: "They were formidable opposition"
When questioned about Liverpool's poor form continuing to Christmas, whether he would consider his position for the good of the club: "I have got a three year contract so if someone wants to get rid of me presumably they would have to pay up my three year contract"
On Liverpools poor form: "I think we are a good side, it's just we keep losing" as well as "We all know a magic wand solution doesn’t exist."
After torres and konchesky were passed fit, but kuyt and agger weren't.: - "we get two good ones back, but lose a good one in kuyt"
Scapegoating the team he picked for Northampton and essentially telling players that they are deemed not good enough: "We had a very bad result on Wednesday night but it should not affect the 11 players who are going to start the game on Saturday because they weren't part of the game."
On the pressure he is under at Liverpool - "I think it would be a sad day for football and for Liverpool if someone who had been brought in with the pomp and circumstance, and the money it took them to release me from my previous contract, and being feted as one of England's best managers – if after eight games people are deciding this guy has got to go".A humble guy with healthy desire.
