After the 2-0 loss to Everton: “To get a result here would have been Utopia,” said the Liverpool manager. “But I can only analyse the performance. There is no point trying to analyse dreams.”

In answer to a journalist from Norway questioning the supply to Torres
: 'Are you from Denmark?' Hodgson asked (he considers the Danish press too negative). 'No, Norway,' replied the visitor. 'Ah, two countries I never want to work in again,' he said.

Discussing how well Birmingham played against us: "It would have been a shame if we beat Birmingham today"

After signing Merieles - "We don't know his best position"

Talking about young prospect Jonjo Shelvey and obviously trying to inspire confidence: "He did well but the fact is he came on in extra-time and people were tiring.

    Questioner
    - 'Is Torres better off playing as a lone striker or with someone alongside him?' Hodgson : 'I don't know'

Talking about the potential protest against the then owners, Hicks and Gillett before Sunderland: "When you've got a group of people protesting at the games, it doesn't help."

    August 24th
    - "Hopefully in the next 36 games we can take some points"

Before the Manchester United game: " I've been involved in some big derbies in my career and you know how much they mean to the fans. It compares with Inter v Juventus. The Milan derby was a big occasion but the derby d'Italia was the real killer one, as it were. I didn't like losing in those games, which I did quite often. I did poorly so it would be nice to change that" - Liverpool lost 3-2

In regards Liverpool's worst start for 56 years:
    "I couldn't give a monkey's whether we're 16th or 18th at the moment."

After the 2-0 loss to Everton:
''I hope that fair-minded people see the game the same way. I think it’s a bit unfortunate that after such a good game of football, everything revolves around the fact that Liverpool didn’t win it.”

After the protests against the owners for the Sunderland game: "those people aren't making my job any easier"

On his special relationship with our nemesis Alex Ferguson:
“I know Mr Ferguson is not really a Liverpool man,” said Hodgson, “so I’m a bit concerned about my excellent relationship with him. “I sincerely hope he forgives me for moving north and hopefully we can have a glass of wine together, maybe in secret."

“We didn’t score goals and Everton did but I refuse to accept that we were in any way outplayed or any way inferior. I watched the performance and the second half was as good as I saw a Liverpool team play under my management that is for sure.” Liverpool had just been completely outplayed and lost 2-0 to their local rivals

When questioned on the way to get the best out of a Liverpool team full of different types of players to Fulham:
"What do you mean do my methods translate? They have translated from Halmsteds to Malmo to Orebo to Neuchatel Xamax to the Swiss national team."

    On signing Poulsen:
"For me, it was a very simple decision when I heard he - Poulsen - might be available at what we considered to be a very reasonable price. We need as many good players as we can get and if you let these opportunities pass you by, sometimes you can regret it."

    On Liverpool conceding goals
    - "It is a problem we are letting in goals but with the offensive line-up we have that is going to be a risk." - Liverpool have managed just 7 goals in the league thus far, 15 less than the same stage last season

After the draw against Sunderland: "They were formidable opposition"

When questioned about Liverpool's poor form continuing to Christmas, whether he would consider his position for the good of the club:
"I have got a three year contract so if someone wants to get rid of me presumably they would have to pay up my three year contract"

On Liverpools poor form: "I think we are a good side, it's just we keep losing" as well as "We all know a magic wand solution doesn’t exist."

After torres and konchesky were passed fit, but kuyt and agger weren't.: - "we get two good ones back, but lose a good one in kuyt"

Scapegoating the team he picked for Northampton and essentially telling players that they are deemed not good enough: "We had a very bad result on Wednesday night but it should not affect the 11 players who are going to start the game on Saturday because they weren't part of the game."

On the pressure he is under at Liverpool -
"I think it would be a sad day for football and for Liverpool if someone who had been brought in with the pomp and circumstance, and the money it took them to release me from my previous contract, and being feted as one of England's best managers – if after eight games people are deciding this guy has got to go".
Rafa said some pretty stupid things too. I had thought Roywas better than that, but he seems not to be able to cope with the fact that there is now so much more interest in what he says than he is used to...every word is studied. I had hoped he would simply say less, but instead he has almost blurted out any old (stupid) thing to fill the silence.

The team is playing terribly away from home, but Rafa's team did too in the first season. Personally I think the performances under Roy have so far been about the same as those in Rafa's first season. A big difference though is that the team and squad Roy has is much better than the one Rafa started with.

Roy has also signed some very poor players (Konch was not good enough for Fulham, and I think we all knew Poulsen was not good enough), although Rafa did too. Raul was also a very perceptive purchase.

I voted unfair, because I think many people on this site do not take a balanced view. Rafa is seen as all good, and Roy all bad. The evidence simply does not back that up.

Having said that - and despite the fact that Fulham played some much better stuff than us last season - my feeeling is that he is not the answer.

Personally, in addition to his dubious tactical approach I think he's arrogant and condescending and out of his depth.
Fair enough - and my reply wasn't aimed purely at you, but at the people who've spent so much time analysing everything that he has said in order to find little snippets that make him look stupid, often purely because they've been taken out of context. I want him gone, but because he's simply nowhere near good enough, nor the right type of manager for us, not because he sometimes says stupid things.

I want him gone for all the same reasons including stupid things he says. It took us 100 years to create the reputation of one of the biggest clubs in the world and with every stupid comment he makes a little bit of that reputation is taken away.

Being class is not only about being good and successful on the pitch but it is also about maintaining highest standards (of public image) in the other areas of club's business management especially in domain of PR.

He definetly deserves more time to see what happens.

          2. Keeping ones job goes without saying, I've to do that everyday but I wouldn't consider it an agenda, its a given. What I mean by agenda is that I don't he sees himself coming to the club thinking I'm going to be the man to bring back the glory days and go down in history. I think he knows he's just the caretaker. His PR skills are without doubt piss poor.

          3. I haven't seen what I deem decent football since the Evans days when our holding midfielder was John Barnes!! Pass and move, pass and move that's the liverpool groove. Emphasis changed under Houiller and Benitez and while winning things I didn't give a fiddlers. When we stopped winning and the football was piss they we're in trouble.
          1) No he doesn't deserve more time.

          3) Nostaligic nonsense, our football under Evans was neither as attack nor as pass based as it was under Rafa.

I don't think it's fair. He comes out with some ****, fair play. Some of the things he has come out with has been positive too though and you don't find anyone here quoting him then. Alot of what he said is partially quoted making him sound even more of a **** which doesn't exactly help the guy either.

I still want him to go and I don't see him as the long term for our club at all, unless this season really ends well, Europa cup and a top 4 finish.

At the end of the day, I think he should have a little bit of support, he is still the Manager of Liverpool football club.

                        Anyway, bring back the King

                          That's just it.

You don't give a manager standing ovations for being positive. That is given.

You expect LFC manager to come out and show desire, drive, passion, respect, commitment and winning, positive attitude at all times.

Now when you think of Roy and what he said and shown so far has he met on any of those qualities?

I'd say absolutely not and imo he rightfully deserves what he is getting.

                          I say it's fair..

look saying he's out of his depth, doesnt have the savvy to handle big players and has old fashioned tactics is one thing. wishing the old 'cunt' would die or have a heart attack is another.

some of the responses have been uncalled for and way over the top.

The treatment of Roy totally warranted. In fact, we haven't done enough to drive the old fool out of the club.
