Everyone aggrees that Roy is not the longterm solution.Originally posted by banditos View PostApparently opinions of the Bodge are unanimously scathing across most LFC fan forums.
Everyone agrees that roy has not been a success.
but Roy has been treated with very little respect. People have tended to forget that he is trying his best, does want to make this work and is a pretty decent guy.
Some of the abuse and terms to which he has been referred to are totally outrageous and OTT and certainly not the Liverpool way as we like to say it.Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

I expect you're right that he's trying his best but that's largely irrelevant. His best isn't good enough.
I think people would have treated him with more respect if he'd treated us all with the same. His slagging of his predecessor wasn't very respectful either.
Ultimately the invective is a result of frustration. Most of us don't want him here and it's very dispiriting to see him still associated with the club. Simply, he's not one of us..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Great post.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI think you're misreading things:

We're not all Sky-influenced phone-in junkies so it would be a good idea not to assume we are.
- No personal agenda. Of course he has - he wants to keep his job. Does that mean he'll do what's right for the club? No, it means he'll do what's right for him. Often the two things will be in harmony but they won't always be. So let's not be naive - he isn't some kind of honest broker, he's a careerist like any other. I don't blame him for that but let's not pretend he doesn't play politics. He just doesn't seem very good at it.
- No decent football? I suppose it's in the eye of the beholder but I think you're wrong. And most of the the stuff we've seen so far this season is worse than anything we saw last season, let alone in seasons where we've played well.

To be honest one of the biggest things that has surprised me is that Hodgson isnt actually a nice guyOriginally posted by 5europeancups View PostEveryone aggrees that Roy is not the longterm solution.

I respected him at Fulham for appearring to be a "nice guy" but since his arrival here he has been far from thatBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

1. I don't think he's got any chance of long term and I'd be fairly certain Roy was of that opinion taking the job. New owners want their own people in any business. I'm sure he's mandate was to go in and steady the ship and see what happens. If we get 5th I'd be pleasantly surprised and that for me is a realistic target. He definetly deserves more time to see what happens.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostI think you're misreading things:

2. Keeping ones job goes without saying, I've to do that everyday but I wouldn't consider it an agenda, its a given. What I mean by agenda is that I don't he sees himself coming to the club thinking I'm going to be the man to bring back the glory days and go down in history. I think he knows he's just the caretaker. His PR skills are without doubt piss poor.
3. I haven't seen what I deem decent football since the Evans days when our holding midfielder was John Barnes!! Pass and move, pass and move that's the liverpool groove. Emphasis changed under Houiller and Benitez and while winning things I didn't give a fiddlers. When we stopped winning and the football was piss they we're in trouble.*************************

I was being ironic.Originally posted by James P View PostYes, they can.

I was merely presenting the quotes for consideration. I didn't put them together, but took them from another forum. It's up to you to make of them what you will.Originally posted by James P View PostI don't want Roy to stay, but I think that to pick out isolated quotes and use them as a stick to beat him with is a nonsense. You could do that to most managers, and every frequent poster on this site (me included), and make them look like an arse.
He's not good enough for the job, but the level of personal vitriol is inappropriate.
Personally, in addition to his dubious tactical approach I think he's arrogant and condescending and out of his depth.A humble guy with healthy desire.
