I feel the opposite. I think he can be spectacular given time and confidence. His ability on the ball is better than most in our team.

Well I'm thinking in particular all this "new Gerrard" talk. Don't think they're much alike at all.

I agree there, no one can be like Gerrard. But he can still be sensational enough I reckon and hopefully he'll fulfil that expectation soon.

Reminds me more of Alonso than Gerrard

If we are thinking into the future I think this will be Coates.

I like Henderson though, do think should be filtered in before being thrown into the deep end though.

If Lucas' injury is serious do we think it will be Spearing replacing him or Hendo?

Thought he had a very good game. Recent signs encouraging.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

With Lucas out, this could be Henderson's chance to win a place in central midfield.

In terms of his engine, he could be a perfect partner for Adam. He can also distribute the ball well from a deep position which he does successfully for the national side.

Only problem is his defensive toughness, which is inadequate and not of the standard required, but that's a mental issue which can be coached. Maybe he could grow into the role gradually.

I'd pick him ahead of Spearing and Shelvey at the moment, though initially I expect Kenny to go safe and pick Spearing to partner Adam and leave Henderson at a more advanced position.

Yep, concentrate on what Lucas has been doing well, and try do the same, awareness, break up attacks, keep it simple..retain possesion, untill the opening comes for a more destructive pass, and tackle well.

Tackling is the one i'd worry most about with Henderson, as far as us losing something Lucas gives us.

So can anyone make a compilation of Hendersons best work in the Chelsea game for me to watch

Perhaps he can fill in the Kuyt role with his indefatigable nature and ability to retain possession.

I'd be happy with Spearing and Adam in the middle.

I agree, this is where his future is, not in the "hole" position but besides lucas or adam.

In addition to heading the ball and crossing the ball tehniques, that is definitely the area he'll need to work extra hard to correct it.
