Thought he was quite good last night.

I was very pleasantly surprised with 2 things yesterday.

In the first half, he hugged the line once or twice and even went for dribbling and followed that with 2 good crosses with his weaker foot.

Then in the second half, he had one great run that surprised me that he has that much pace and even tough the cross wasn't the greatest it did show that he has the potential to build on.

I think the fact that he has the chance to play with Stevie will speed up his maturity process and help him improve much faster.

He's upped his game over the past few months. He's started being a little more forward thinking in his play rather than passing sideways and backwards all the time (like he did when he first signed for us). I like the comparison with Lucas because a similar claim was laid against him.

He's technically very good and has a great mentality. There's no reason at all why he shouldn't develop into an excellent player for us. Personally I can see him developing in a more attacking variety of Lucas. Very neat and tidy, hard working. Won't be as good defensively, but he has goals in him.

Next season will be BIG for him

I like Henderson, Keeps it simple and the ball moving. Bit more confidence when he's one on one with a player or with the keeper but that will come. Don't think last night was his best performance but Kuyt always got away with the 'but he put a shift on' line and so does Henderson!

Couple of years time and we'll have a very good player on our hands.

To me that's the key and his defensive game. If he can improve in those 2 areas especially I think we'll do well.

The thing about Henderson is compared to all the summer signings with the exception of Enrique, I am never too worried about seeing him in the starting lineup. Downing, Carroll and Adam are not doing enough to merit their place but Henderson is showing signs of improvement and signs of becoming a top player.

my point was that this lad is overpriced, and not the complete player that his price tag would suggest. yes, he may develop and become the new gerrard, but we seem to check money around based on potential...
these players could be picked up for 2-3m [thats MILLION ] if the scouting system was doing its job properly. they would then come good in the reserves or out on loan. we shouldn't be blooding them in our team at this stage of their development until they are more fully able to justify their starting place.
this is what is costing us our consistency, and compromising our league position.

We're not in the 1970s anymoere. Inflation means that any English player of a certain level of ability goes for that much money. There is no way around that.

We would he ever become 'the new Gerrard'? Don't take this personally but it gets my goat when people call anyone 'the new... insert x'. He's the current and future Jordan Henderson. Nothing else.

There are loads of kids that come in for the price you have suggested, and they do play in the reserves. They are generally younger than Henderson. Often, we have found they disapear without trace.

Out of interest, who would you play instead of Henderson?

am i just not seeing the good play from this lad. i know its about potential, but we shouldnt be paying 20m for a youngster who may become a first teamer.
