The club have accepted that and as such are doing their best to give him what he wants
If that is the case he should be allowed to leave.

There is no point keepin' a player that doesn't want to be around.

It's shame really if that's how he feels.

      I'd argue that

He wasnt great all that season at the start of the year his form was VERY poor

However he did improve as the season went on

Either way it is a gamble, there are no hard and fast rules and given his insiistence in wanting away last summer you'd also have to take that into account

maybe that different people react differently to different things

            obviously craigo wouldnt

i think arn should draw up a business plan for the club and submit it.

it may well lift some of the gloom around our pre season fixtures .

Excuse my ignorance but why do you think you know exactly what Aquilani thinks of the UK? Have you spoken to him or do you claim to have a contact who has? If so, sorry but I don't believe a word from people who claim to have inside information unless I have conclusive proof. If I had a penny for every piece of inside info I supposedly had...

From what I'm told the only thing that would change his mind is if LFC relocated to Italy

Nothing the club say or do will change that

At least not from what I am told

You and others keep making it out like it is Kenny forcing him out

Its the player wanting to go and the club now having a policy not to stand in the way of anyone who insists that they want to leave

                  Will we replace him though?

While I generally think that Arn is wildly overstating his case here I suspect he is just adding another (recent) example of a player who played well despite being unhappy in Liverpool. In some ways the example of Mascherano is more relevant than Alonso as the latter was clearly quite happy in the UK in general an specifics of career and employment made him want to leave.

Obviously the caveats you raised/implied of people dealing with things differently is also relevant. I guess the question is whether anyone has any insight into how Aquilani would respond.

Despite Rafa's comments towards the end of his first season Aquilani did perform pretty well on the pitch despite his supposed dissatisfaction off it.

The same situation will happen time after time if we accept to be bullied around.

As already been mentioned. Some time you must stand up and take a stand even if cost us a few millions the first time or even the second time.

Long term the club must show strength in the transfer market. If we do that then we will get better offers for our players. Maybe not this year or next year but for a long time after that.

I wish Kenny (or Aquilani) would just come out and clarify the situation.

If he is so desperate to leave he would have already gone by now - IIRC didn't he turn down an offer from Fiorentina because of his wages??

I understand peoples confusion maybe I did not make myself clear

I can appreciate that people rate him that highly and dont want him sold but sometimes decisions are not made for footballing reasons
