You mean, play the long ball game?Originally posted by rcasemore View PostCarroll should be the perfect type of player against Arsenal for us, supply him with balls in the box and they'll struggle to contain him, get our players in and around him looking for the 2nd ball which I'd think they'll be plenty of.Are we winning?

He's finally healthy but needs a goal badly to gain the confidence back.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostWe'll see. He hasn't really been unbeatable when he has played for us.
Lot of pressure on him but he needs some time to gel with Suarez, Downing, Adam etc.
I think he'll do fine.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Carroll will start. No point in ****e talking about it. Even the thought of him not playing against this arsenal back four is stupid.

I'm so excited. And I just cant hide it. I'm about to loose control and I think I like it.

I expect to see plenty of this from the Big man on Saturday
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gXD2g06Epg"]Newcastle vs arsenal andy Carroll goal - YouTube[/ame]We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

Aside from that, it's the position he's played all his career, and the one he was playing when we had scouted him and decided we wanted to sign him.

I think we used on the right frequently at Villa, still think we shouldn't swap flanks though, reduces effectness IMO.Originally posted by Craig_H View Post

I actually like him when he goes right and cuts inside as much as I like to see him on the left hugging the byline.Originally posted by rcasemore View Postagreed, he should be wide left, never been a fan of swapping players over, remember Rafa doing it with Kewell (when he was fit) and it just tells you they're most likely going to cut back onto their natural foot
It gives us options and that is something we certainly could use.
He was unlucky not to score when he did that against Sunderland.
Also Young does very well playing on the opposite flank.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

not against playing downing on the right although i agree his natural position of left wing is where he shoudl play more often than not. however, football these days is all about pass and move and changing things up mid game and its good to see another player along with raul, maxi ans gerard who can play all these positions.
what i like about downing doing the right sided role as well as the left is even though he will be mor einlcined to cut insiode and have a shot (something that was very unlucky not to come off against sunderland) but he is also capable and natural inclined to hit the bye line down the right side just as much as the left.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.
