With Poulsen, Cole, Meireles et al going, surely this sends a really positive message to our young up and coming players like Shelvey, Sterling and Coady.
Finishing last season playing the likes of Flanagan, Robinson as opposed to someone more established like Degen has shown that if they are good enough, and the chance arises, they will get their chance. We now have a more healthy balance of youth and quality and 2 good players for each position.
The only position I would argue we are slightly light (if Gerrard will play in centre mid, is up front.)

Considering the fact that most of the players we have bought were british.
Were they all kenny signings? Comolli was linked with players from France ,none of which we bought.

I'd be interested to hear from those who've voted "No" - gentingfrmhell, Mattimetal, The Reverend.
Okay I've slept on it and here's my reason for voting 'No' as requested.

I was very happy with everything till I learnt the Chavs were tying up the deal for Raul with about 30 mins to go.
Now I agree Raul is not at all great on defence, but his ability to create and score goals - especially with his late untracked runs into the 18yrd box - is needed in a tight match.

I would have no prob with him going for two reasons.
            1) We get an out and out winger in immediately
            2) We sell him to another team, but not a rival for top 4 in any way.

Sadly, we have yet again been rumbled over by the chavs, and it's worrying that there is the possibility our players are being tapped up by the chavs. They've started a habit of buying our players, and they're in direct competition with us and they know we are a danger to them in the prem. I rem reading an article at the end of the 2010 season when Broughton had apparently told Charlotte Jackson at an eve do that the Chavs would go in for Torres in Jan 2011. Well it was rubbished by everyone (and her) but it did happen.

I was delighted Spurs stood their ground with Modric as i think he would have taken the Chavs play to another level. As it is they have got another creative mid in Raul. It's gonna give them the edge creatively with Mata & Ramires there now. I would have been really happy if we'd refused to sell him as we had no replacement to come in. We've given AVB a player he knows really well, so no doubt he'll be in the starting XI sooner rather than later.

I was really hoping we'd get in another winger, but we didn't and as it stands, if we lose Downing before Jan for any length of time, we're ****ed on the wings as his pace is valuable. Henderson is not a natural winger, his best position is the Gerrard attacking role in the middle of the park, as shown playing for Sunderland last season and at times against Bolton. Henderson is better than Cleverly in my book.

I thought we'd be buying two wingers at least, and we've only got one now. Maybe one of the ressies will get promoted but we really should have bought a right wing. The balance is perfect in the team except on the wings, and this really should have got sorted if Raul was going.

This whole last minute chav deal has left a sour taste in the mouth for me, as I don't believe it's what Man U or Man C would have done. We prob would have got A Johnson in, if that was the case. Don't forget Arse certainly plugged a few holes with their 4 signings yday, so we can't rule them out of top 4 for now.

Come to think of it, maybe we'll start to deploy Glen on right wing now?...

Your too good to be true, can't take the ball off you you got a heavenly touch, you pass like Sounness to rush. And when we're pissed in the bars we thank the Lord that your ours

I think a lot of that was cheap journalism. look at the players Comolli bought to Spurs - many of those were English too.
