'Happy, yes or no' leaves too much to the interpretation of the respondent making it difficult to interpret results. It doesn't matter here because partly because it doesn't matter since it's only a football site and has absolutely no impact on anything real.

But also it doesn't matter because the respondents here have got the luxury of being able to add comments to clarify their interpretation. But once you do that the figures themselves become much less clearcut, and that's largely due to poor design of the question.

However my main point is that happy/unhappy is better read as a straight choice when you have absolutely no influence on the situation. You don't need to be completely happy and if you're completely unhappy then you might need professional help. But if you're somewhere in the middle then it's more useful to think "7/10 = happy, end of" than think "I'm happy I suppose but I still rue that missing 3/10" because otherwise you end up a moaning git and probably, er, unhappy. And that's a pity because really you're happy.

So ultimately it's a philosophical rather than a methodological point.

    Happy?

I'm sorry my post went way over your head.

If only Real Pablo were here, etc...

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

As others have said, once Gerrard is fit his loss will be completely neutralised.

My only complaint is that we perhaps haven't signed players who have already competed at the highest level consistently, but we aren't in the CL this season so it'll give them a season to bed in (presumably) and we can then further reinforce with top players when we're in the CL and playing 3 games a week.

I still think that the jury is still out on one or two of our new arrivals but they've made a very promising start.
We've signed players with something to prove and that is that they are good enough to play for Liverpool. I think this is very important.

This transfer window was about building the foundations of a solid team/squad. We've improved significantly in most areas (those areas which needed improvement). If we can secure a CL position this season then we can add more quality to the team next summer. I couldn't have expected any more and I'm very happy with the transfers in and out. Comolli has done a great job since we brought him in, we have fantastic owners and Dalglish is bringing the joy back to our club. Feeling very positive about everything football-wise at the moment.

this hopefully will give us the chance to do what United have done for years next summer and look to add 1 or 2 quality signings to what we've already got.

                    Good window for us.

I think this is pretty much exactly right. I worry that we have pruned too hard by getting rid of Meireles without replacement but in more or less every other area we look a lot stronger.

I'm not overly concerned about Meireles' departure given that Gerrard should be back soon.

My feeling is that people have too much faith in this happening.

how long would RM have been out for with his collar bone injury?

Fortunately we don't rely on Gerrard like we did. I can't wait to see him back, but in the meantime we've got an excellent squad capable of winning games and scoring from many positions. No doubt we'll lose a few games along the way - Stoke could be a tough game for us. We are much stronger now, the quality of our bench is amazing compared to recent seasons.

                                Absolutely.

Look at our squad now and after the last summer window.

It's night and day and we only spent £35m net money to accomplish that.
