Good sales in general. I think Meireles was a step too far though.

Pleased with most of our purchases. Not sure this will be our season with them but we have given ourselves a much better basis to build from.

Given the money bought in and wages saved I think we are weaker than we should have been. I hope it means that we have faith in young players in the squad reserves and they live up to it. Otherwise I think we might have to hope for Arsenal and Spurs to continue imploding to get 4th.

Then you have the likes of Flanagan, Wilson and Robinson. Reckon Shelvey will get a bit of time now, next summer will be very interesting.

Missing Pacheco, Kohlert and Bijev (in and out). Oh, and Nacho if he counts, though I'm not sure the club ever confirmed him, have to look out for the u18 squad and see if he pops up.

The fees are obviously a little up for debate too, the ones above for our purchases are definitely on the more conservative side; seen different figures reported for Enrique and Downing, plus Adam's supposedly has some addone.... but then I suppose we may have got a few £ here and there for some of the undisclosed's who left.

There was a rumour about Ecclestone leaving a few hours ago, I take it nothing came of that?

If all of our players are fit Coates won't start many games this season.

                    He's one for the future.

It's been a really smart year of business from FSG. They've greatly improved the squad and got rid of the deadwood. Everything has been done through re-cycling rather new money going in, says a lot about the owners. That said, I ain't bothered about finances, I just want quality players coming in.

Tough call between Spearing and Maxi. Tactically Maxi would be preferred, but might have a problem if Lucas went out.

I agree, a pretty strong 18. Not as glamourous as Citeh, as a forward line of Dzeko, Tevez, Kun, Silva, Nasri is intimidating, however I wonder if KD hasn't built a better "team" rather than a collection of aces?

We do seem a bit light in central midfield now. Maybe KD will look to play Gerrard in a deeper role this year. It also looked like we had significant surplus in the role behind the striker, but Aquilani, Meireles, and Cole have all left leaving only Suarez, Gerrard, and Hendo. But what was a bloated squad is now looking pretty trim.

Enrique and Coates fit the bill perfectly at the back. Enrique is the best l;eft back we've had in a long, long time. Henderson has a lot of potential and a great attitude, while Adam has a touch of class about him. And solves the StevieG corner problem. Bellamy I've always rated and as for Downing, I think he's an excellent player who's very consistent and will win over the fans big time. We've bought very well imo, some fees a bit big, some bargains, but overall very pleasing.

As for outs, for the most part they were all no brainers. As for Meireles, well if he hadn't had that little bout of scoring in Feb/March, very few would be at all bothered at him leaving. Decent technical footballer but really was not going to fit into our midfield with the signings we made and the system Kenny likes to play. Plus, well, if he wanted to go then we did the right thing letting him
