Problem is the reliance on the outcome being "fair & correct" not 2 words I'd associate with the FA too often

Evra accuses Suarez of racism

The bit in bold suggests that the comments were made in front of the referee, if that's the case he mustn't have thought they were racist, but surely Evra would have complained very strongly about it to him at the time instead of waiting until after the match. There is an expectancy that it will be confirmed to the panel that nothing offensive was heard in the goalmouth.
Shortly after the corner, referee Andre Marriner called the pair together for a lecture. Suárez apologised and attempted to pat the United full-back on the head. “Don’t touch me, you South American,’’ Evra is alleged to have said. To which, the Uruguayan replied: “Porque, Negro?’’The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I dont think he will get a ban. Unless there is conclusive evidence that we dont know about, how can he?
From what I've read, especially yesterday, it appears that Evra actually accused the ref of being a racist, then went on French TV to accuse Suarez.
If they do find him guilty without conclusive evidence, it wont be the end of it."With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

I think the situation is complicated by Suarez supposedly admitting to using the word "negro", if the FA decide that the use of that word is racist that's all the evidence they'll need.Originally posted by Jack D Rips View PostI dont think he will get a ban. Why is the word black racist? Surely it matters in what context it is used? We can't be going that far in this racist debate that you can't use a descriptive term.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI think the situation is complicated by Suarez supposedly admitting to using the word "negro", if the FA decide that the use of that word is racist that's all the evidence they'll need.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

They won't win the league this year so this will be the next best thing for them.

If Evra thought it was racist at the time, how can the FA rule it frivolous? Evra has every right to complain if he thought he was racially abused. If the FA then find out later that it wasn`t racist, just a language thing, the complaint wasn`t frivolous. If Suarez had said nothing at all onthe other hand......Originally posted by MrNice View PostIf they were really smart they should ban Evra for frivolous charges, and come away looking extremely strong having taken the more difficult but correct decision, seriously what he is doing is just as bad if not worse than racists, its like a women who cries rape retrospectively when she decides she no longer likes that dude, does a complete injustice to people who genuinely suffer racist abuse.
Additionally they should serve Suarez a warning re fulham and make a statement that no future gestures to crowds will be tolerated. This would be fair and correct.
It remains to be seen what happens though, I would be highly surprised if anything comes of the Evra incident but It would not surprise me for him to get a 1 match ban for the finger ...Blank

Well the gesture thing is pretty clear cut. He did it and it cant be denied. The only defence there is precedent.
The use of the word "negro" cannot be construed as racist(IMO). Its Spanish for black.
You call someone (who is black) black it isnt racist. Call him a black **** and it is. Call him the N word and it is.
Surely you cant stop people speaking in their own language.
As I said earlier, unless there is evidence that we havnt heard about, I dont see how he can be found guilty.
Incidentally, a Hibernian player received a one match ban this week for offensive gestures towards Rangers fans. Different jurisdiction I know."With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."
