I can't see that being true to be honest, if Suarez has been found not guilty already it is irresponsible of the FA to keep this hanging over him. Yeah, it would rude of the FA not to resolve the matter quickly It's already taken them over two months, probably a bonus for them to have this hanging over Luis for one more game.

was speaking with my daughter who spends a lot of time in France & Spain And is fluent in both. She obviously confirmed the negro stuff but she said that last week in France a friend of hers went up to someone and said hey black how are you.
She was expecting a reaction but was amazed there wasn't any. When she spoke with them about it they told her they saw it no different to calling someone blond.
I say this as one report said Suarez had been in northern Europe long enough to realise sensitivities. Seems sensitivities more UK centric.

what are you yawning about? this has been poorly dealt with. The alleged incident took place on the 15th October and still no decision one way or the other.

Regardless of the outcome it's yet another mis-managed incident from the FA, perhaps they've been busy elsewhere though!

I can't believe that people are saying Suarez has been in Europe long enough to know about 'European cultures', the cultures vary dramatically from country to country. The ironic thing for me is that a number of people making these comments (journalists etc), would be likely offended if you were to suggest to them that the British culture was the same as that of the French or the Germans... etc

I suspect Barclay is probably right tbh. Using someone's race in a condescending way is racistist, simple as. The arugument that such racism is run of the mill in South America etc in comparrison to attitudes here will surely only act as a mitigating factor and thus only have an influence on the sanction. If Luis had denied everything he'd probably have been found not guilty due to lack of evidence but I'd be amazed if he's found not guilty now.

The argument is not that racism is commonplace in South America, it's that what he said did not have any racist connotations. They will presumably have argued that adding a racial element to the charge would be an ignorant assumption based on the similarity to the English 'negro' and/or the way it translates literally rather than an understanding of what the usage connotes.

Of course, Evra's side can argue Suarez knew full well what it would be construed as. Or that not realising is no excuse.

Absolutely, a lot of the stuff journos have come out with has shown some pretty ironic misconceptions about race/racism/culture.

Is it not possibly the preliminary investigation into the ccusations against Suarez revealed potential wrongdoing by Evra. The delay to give Suarez 'extra time to prepare his defence' was actually time for Evra to respond to charges at a dual hearing?
