As its such a complicated case, which ever side loses is likely to appeal anyway.

Evra accuses Suarez of racism

It's a bunch of limp wristed, white, guardian readers that have decided on the behalf of the 'poor incapable immigrants' (Passive, non self-aware racism) that the simple use of basic descriptive terms is somehow insulting. Said ******s came up with the terms 'people of colour' etc in their misguided attempts and placating their own inherited guilt from decades and centuries previously.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostThe cultural norm is that you don't refer to a person's race when you are arguing with them, so it shouldn't really be an issue.
Refering to someones colour is not racist in and of itself. Only if specific insulting and derogatory terms are used, such as N---er as opposed to the simple negro. Other nations with a longer and deeper history of multi-culturalism have already evolved past this state and now worry about whether you call someone a cunt or not rather than any simple descriptive terms."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

No, people who don't know the difference between "Negro" and "Nig*er" should stfu and keep their ill-informed, half-baked opinions to themselves while the grown ups sort things out.Originally posted by MrNice View Post
There is a severe cultural misunderstanding here, you cannot blame people in the UK for not getting this, unless they have lived in S America or have a lot of S American friends. As this case has moved along I have just become more and more convinced of Suarez innocence and really there needs to be some major clearing of his name.
I find it hard to beleive that Evra did not know this was not racist, but I will leave the door open that perhaps he did not.
That it would seem would be the easiest way out for the FA, cultural misunderstanding.

Aye, you can't appeal a not guilty verdict, otherwise it would lead to never ending trials and would be ridiculous.Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostI would imagine that a not guilty verdict would not allow Utd/Evra the option of appealing.

If this is the case are the clubs not allowed to comment on the decision, that seems a little odd.Originally posted by Deano View PostThe clubs will be informed today from what I've read - It makes sense for them to know before anyone else and reasoning behind the decision. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Erm, isn't the Graun one of the papers not condemning Suarez outright already?Originally posted by BillobShaisley View PostIt's a bunch of limp wristed, white, guardian readers that have decided on the behalf of the 'poor incapable immigrants' (Passive, non self-aware racism) that the simple use of basic descriptive terms is somehow insulting. 3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Yeah, drawing The Guardian and/or it's readers on this sounds like an incredibly lazy presumption to me. From what I remember it was the Guardian that first brought the potential nuances of this case to light with any prominence, and the paper rightly continues to raise them without making judgement either way.Like blood on iron

As a Guardian reader of 40 years I can say unequivocally that I do not have a linp wrist.Given my age other parts may be slightly limp but definitely not my wrist. For the record the Guardian is the only wholly Independent national daily. It is owned by the Scott trust and not some millionaire **** with an axe to grind-i.e.every other paper and consequently is the most unbiased national daily of them all.You are shooting at the wrong target. Here endeth the lesson
