But what point is the picture, or the sending of it to journos, actually making?Originally posted by MrNice View PostWell I suppose if we have all decided to move on then close this thread and lets be done with it, if not then we need to educate people on the ways of the big wide world

I susspect nobody really has grasped this everybody is still looking at this from a uk mentality and ****ing good riddance I have wasted too much of my energy on this ignorance alreadyAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Yeah, none of us can quite grasp the linguistic naunaces involved here. That's why we've been banging on about about it.
What difference is a picture of a kid with 'El Nego' on his shirt going to make, when a picture of the Argentina team, holding up a flag bearing the words 'Fuerza Nego' had no impact?
The journos have an agenda, do you think they're going to give a **** about (much less report on) something that negates the impact of their witch hunt?

Is the point from that picture not that Hernandez is quite possibly known as El Negro in the States?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostBut what point is the picture, or the sending of it to journos, actually making?"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

Yeah and we've already seen evidence that the Argentina team paid tribute to Caceres by calling him 'negro' - and that didnt make any difference to any journos or the case, either.Originally posted by Jack D Rips View PostIs the point from that picture not that Hernandez is quite possibly known as El Negro in the States?

Hernandez plays for manu and acually was one Evra's so called witnesses. And I agree with you. It probably wont make any difference, although as I said above Jim Boardman obviously saw something of interest in it.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostYeah and we've already seen evidence that the Argentina team paid tribute to Caceres by calling him 'negro' - and that didnt make any difference to any journos or the case, either."With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

Whilst I agree with your sentiments I get the vibe that people truly dont understand just how much of a fit up this has been, its ignorance in the extreme, I told one of my mates from Africa who has mixed raced kids and he was all over it like rice on white, in a negative way, the mere mention of the the world Negro or words sounding like it to an native english speaker and you really are swimming up stream to convince them its anything other than mildly offensive at best. I still think people have no grasped that a its a different word and b its about as racist as a pint of milkOriginally posted by Craig_H View Post

I think it didn't help that the media had already made it's mind up and maybe if they figured the whole thing out, they couldn't really change their mind. The Fanning article was quite good, pointing out that he is effectively banned for the use of the word "black". I don't think it's a case of complicated linguistic nuisance either, just of a proper translation, at least in the media.
