Bolton's inbred ****s chanting 'sheep shagger' at Bellamy today. Nothing will get said though, even though it's clearly racist.

It's got to the point now where 'total nonsense' is now deemed to be racism and if you're going to come down on others, then you have to do it across the board.
They were abusing Bellamy, based on him being Welsh - they werent doing it to anyone else, they were singling him about based on being Welsh. If he was black and they were singling him out based on being black, it'd be racist and wouldnt be ignored or tolerated.
If he was german and they were chanting 'you kraut *******' it'd be racist.
Is calling him a sheep shagger, based on him being Welsh, different then?

I don't really think that Welsh people are a different race although I appreciate what you're saying. I guess when we play the Mancs there is a lot of abuse between fans which could be interpreted as racism? In fact there are chants at every game which could be regarded as racism. It isn't genuine racism, but the FA could label it racism if it suited their agenda.

I'm not sure what you mean. Not going into 'coulda, woulda, shoulda' - it was about him being Welsh and nothing else.Originally posted by TheElephantMan View PostWhy does it have to be about nationality? It could be the next town or even the next street? Or possibly even the next door neighbours?!

We've been discussing racism for quite a while now and I understand it less than I did a few months ago. I haven't seen a definition of racism that makes sense. It seems easy to define racism between a typical white person and a typical black person, but the majority of people on the planet can't be pigeon-holed so easily. We're all mixed race. Who are the indigenous British people anyway?! I'm from Irish stock and my girlfriend is of Welsh descent, but we're both from Merseyside - how ethnically different are we really?

So what is my nationality? I'm not English far from it. I'm white, but like most Europeans my ancestry could be traced back to Africa. My religion is Roman Catholic rather than Church of England. If I called someone from Wales a sheep shagger that would be racism by your definition, but if I called someone from Wigan the same would that also be racism?
