I'd like to see any midfield if it included a fit Gerrard and Lucas.

The only real criticism I would level at Kenny this season is he has been too loyal (IMO) at times to the players he signed in the summer.
No doubt that's why he gets everyone to play for him because the players know he'll back them 100% but there have been a few times when Adam should have been left out and Kenny stuck with him.
Having said that at times he has performed to a really high standard, home to Man U in the league he was excellent for example.
Like everyone else I'm amazed how difficult he finds it to kick a dead ball playing for us compared to last season with Blackpool.
His corners, free kicks and penalties have been worse than abysmalThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

maybe thats due to the crowd being on his back. Some real venom coming at him from some sections of the crowd. I dont think he was bought to be first choice anyway. Lucas and Gerrard would ordinarily be the midfield pairing but due to injury, CA has been used more than the management would have expected. Still, even as backup he's fallen well short. Pity, i honestly thought he was gonna be a decent signing.

Serious stat alright and not surprising when he is played in such a deep and unatural role in which he just can't play. Reading similiar stat based argument at opposite end about Scholes for the mancs, think they've won 8 of last 9 with him in the team. ****er has been sensational since coming back!
Adam IMO will be a good squad player for us, ok starter if he has zero defensive responsiblity. Adam,,Hendo & Downing wouldn't have started as much games if we hadn't of been decimated this season in the midfield area, just a lack of real quality in the squad unfortunately.Last edited by danperkins; 19-03-12, 11:40 PM.

This thread just reminds me of what we miss in Xabi - close off space, win the ball often with ****in vicious tackles, follow up with brilliant pass, loads of ****in zinging long passes, some class almost zidane-like skill (rare enough in fairness), appearing from out of 3 oppositon players with the ball nad doing something deadly, routinely piss off Fat Frank, brilliant engine (stats always used to say he'd ran 10 ****in k when he was being subbed)...ffsFelching ≠ Gerbilling

I'm not a fan (of Adam) but you would have thought the number of people who have had to eat their words about Skrtel, Lucas, Maxi and Kuyt there would be a greater level of acceptance that sometimes you have to be loyal stick with players to get the best out of them. It's a fine line and I suspect you have to back someone 100% until you don't and Kenny has at least given all his signings a fair chance and of late we are seeing much improved versions of Carroll and Downing at least.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostThe only real criticism I would level at Kenny this season is he has been too loyal (IMO) at times to the players he signed in the summer.

A fair point. We are a fickle bunch at the best of times
Adam is a squad player and that's the price we paid for one. You only have to look at the likes of Anderson at Utd to see that was money well spent. In fact, he reminds me a bit of Anderson....left footed, can't really run or tackle and panics when near the penalty area
I would put Adam behind Gerrard, Lucas, Spearing & Henderson for a midfield role in our team at the moThe Bodge is gone, long live the King!
