What an important summer. It's the point of no return in my eyes. It's our last chance to give it a damn good go otherwise it'll be years before we challenge for 4th.
FSG cannot have any doubts. The league is so much tougher and the competition is fiercer than ever. If they fully support Kenny as manager, give him the funds to compete at the very top. If they doubt him, then they have to go for someone else.I can see how fine the line is between in and out or stick and twist, so I can appreciate both sides of the coin; I don't find the talk of people questioning Kenny unreasonable, but I think there could be better ways of putting across their opinion in some instances - regardless of what happens, Kenny is King.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostAs much as I admire your loyalty and optimism, I just can't agree with it. This season is a 50/50 I think, so it depends on which side you come down on.
Sure there have been some decent performances, but that should be the minimum we can expect. Sunderland, Bolton, QPR and in particular the shambles of a home record - the worst I can remember - sways me towards the negative side of the 50.
I don't think Roy Hodgson was afforded this much time. I just worry that if we continue with the status quo, we're going to find ourselves stuck in a mid table malaise.
Mid table is ****ing boring. Its ****ing annoying.
Roy wasn't afforded any time because he was never right for Liverpool - he didn't get us, his football was turgid and if we're questioning Henderson, Downing et al, we'd be shutting the internets down if we still had Konchesky, Poulsen and bought Carlton Cole etc.
But yeah, it is without doubt, a very important period for us.

Woy was a clueless ****wit, but there were a lot of fans out to get him from the very beginning because of their love for Rafa. Managers that arent Rafa dont stand a chance in a lot of people's eyes and that is evident from the current 'one season and out' syndrome that was never a feature of Liverpool fans before

There is no 'one season and out syndrome' imo. People make that argument as if we're on the back of a succession of one year appointments, or as if replacing Kenny after 18 months intrinsically means were going start on one. Its possible that fans will adopt this mentality, but it certainly isn't a given and it isn't a compelling argument in the Kenny discussion.Last edited by Kenneth; 25-03-12, 02:02 PM.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Didn't want Kenny as permanent manager here in the first place because of the very situation we are in now. However, he did earn his contract during his interim period and we can't keep chopping and changing manager so he has to stay. Kenny, for gods sake, buy some proper footballers.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

I voted for that option as its the closest to what I think. I doubt very much that we will lose another 8 on the spin, if we did Kenny would doubtless step aside anyway. However, assuming we pick up a sensible no. of points and finish 7th, if a distant 7th that's closer to those behind us than those in front, I would stick with the current setup for another year.Originally posted by Shanks View PostGoing back to the original point.
For the people that voted.
Stick with Kenny for another season, regardless of what happens this season.
Would you still feel the same if we lost every remaining game, because that's effectively what you are saying..
Surely that can't be right.
I wouldn't hand over a vast amount of funds to spend in the summer. Not that we've spent a vast amount so far in net terms, but imo although I have plenty of concerns with the squad I think we should basically be looking at 4 in, and about the same out (plus those out on loan like Aquilani & Cole). Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio and for me, Adam out. Replace basically position for position, a striker, an attacking wide player, a good midfielder, and probably another option at left back unless we really feel we're covered there. Although it would be great to buy 3 obviously world class players for those 3 roles that's not realistic, so what we need to see is Commoli prove he isn't the French Parry and setup some smart deals that don't involve a huge outlay. I'm very unconvinced about the likes of Carroll and Downing, but regardless I would then give them, and the Kenny / Commoli setup, a chance to produce the results next year we should have been seeing this year.
Not that we'd even then be guaranteed 4th place, but we need to be much more convincing that we have been.
I don't think it would do any good to chop & change again so soon and we have to let this setup place its course. However, if we do decide its time for a change, then I would like a completely fresh start. Not Rafa back, I respect the guy but Kenny would have proven than going back is rarely the right thing, we'd have more division among the fans, more press on our back, more... just more what we had before. A clean move on would be what I would want then. But more than that I think we have to let what we have right now play out, give Kenny the opportunity to get it right.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Surely they have done some business since then? you can argue they are much shrewder in the transfer market than us and currently have a better squad. Besides, it's irrelevant what Newcastle have done/are doing.Originally posted by Shanks View PostI dont think the problem is about decent footballers, It's about getting the best out of the ones we have.
I didn't see Newcastle rushing out to spend the Andy Carroll money..Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Whatever happens there is going to be divisions between the fans, right now some want Kenny to stay some don't, some want Rafa back some don't, if we bring someone else in and they don't do well some will say told you so we should of gone for ???????, its the way it is, unless we are successful there are going to be unhappy fans and sometimes even if we are succesful some aren't happyOriginally posted by MrMichael View PostI voted for that option as its the closest to what I think. I think results will determine if he stays and I think if he feels he's not getting them, he'll step aside. It'd be a massive shame, if and when he does decide to go..
I just hope the players can salvage some pride during this run in..

I think Kenny deserved a full time contract given what he did at the back end of last year.
I just can't see how we've gone backwards so quickly and why we look like a right shambles at the moment. We have no set-up, no plan and no confidence.
The loss of Agger for a month and Lucas was always going to hurt us, but I can't believe that two players would have such an effect. Especially when you have the likes of Gerrard, Suarez, Kuyt, Carroll and even Maxi (who for some baffling reason can't get a sniff).Last edited by Lee; 25-03-12, 05:39 PM.
