Liverpool FC Supporters Union Spirit of Shankly flag on the Kop at Anfield

LIVERPOOL FC supporters union Spirit of Shankly are to meet with LFC Managing Director Ian Ayre to discuss rising season ticket prices at Anfield.

After the club revealed that a six-tier system is to be brought in next season, which will see season ticket prices in some areas of the ground increase by £80 while other fans will actually pay £15 less, the fans group branded the increases "an insult to long-standing supporters".

They have now confirmed that they will be meeting with the club next week, saying in a statement on their website, "We stand by our original statement.

"We believe supporters, with the implementation of these prices and lack of adequate or proper consultation around this matter, are being forced into a corner of paying up or having to give up something valuable to them.

"As a result, we have spoken with LFC officials about our concerns and a delegation from the Union's Management Committee will meet with LFC Managing Director Ian Ayre next Tuesday. At this meeting we will raise the concerns and questions from our members about the ticket price changes and seek answers from the club."

What the **** does the management committee do? I bet there are about 50 people on it aswell.

We weren't paying ticket prices with a 23 year hike rate of 716% before 1989 . Why should we pay it now .

My first game was in 1976 against Villa at home as a nine year old .

I got a season ticket in 1984 after I'd left school and started work . I've had it since . That was when it was a working mans game affordable to the working class .

Why should we go anywhere else . Those people who I talk of are the lifeblood of this club . Some would do well to remember that

As has been stated on many times in this thread, the players are the biggest expense at the club - you should start preaching to them about cutting back their pay. Do you think the players that make a big deal of being local and working class would show their soldiarity with your cause by taking a symbolic pay cut? They are already multi-millionaires and could play even play for free.

Its amazing to see that our wages are approx 120m per year and Gate Revenue accounts for approx 45m per year, if it was not for other sources of income would sos advocate a tripling of ticket prices just to cover player wages?

It can aid transparency or it can just look like transparency when in fact it's manipulation. If you want an example of the latter, look at politics.

PM me if you're serious about doing a poll on the userbase/fanbase profile and views on pricing etc. And then we can discuss whether it's something we might both want to be involved with, what the hypotheses are that we could be testing and how to go about it all (not necessarily in that order). But I don't want to be involved if the aim is to divide the fanbase.
