i do not understand this idea that there will be qa reduced transfer budget. if we have x amount of money to spend and an overhaul of the side to come that will add to it, surely their idea is to hire someone that they trust to spend what we have, rather than adjusting what we have to who ever we get to manage the club. that seems backwards.

Not really. If we bring in for arguments sake Klopp, Capello, De Boer, Pep, Maureen etc They will only come if we guarantee say 50m spend.

If we go with Martinez he wont be asking for those figures but will be asking whats the budget?

Also as MArtinez has never spent over a couple of million on a player you would be a little wary, although I do take your point of why employ him, if you dont trust him!!

Good post. I'd say the transfer budget is pretty much set in stone and it would be paranoia to assume it's alterable based on which manager we select. There's no real logic to doing that. If you doubted them that much why hire them in the first place? Besides it will be the DoF that really pulls the strings going forward in terms of signings by the sounds of things anyway.

Do you really think its set in stone though? IF and we know its not happening Pep said yes but I want 60m fpor transfers and we had allocated 40m we wouldnt find a bit more for a high profile guy?

i think we have what we have, and what there is allocated to spending in the market is the maximum amount--on the other hand, i'm not even sure we have a budget per se, i think we just make funds available based on who we have lined up and spend that way. we want x, and we're willing to spend y on him. if the deal goes through, then we spend it.

It's all conjecture, but no honestly I don't. FSG are super organised, they will have the finances all figured out and won't change them. Especially with FFP supposedly on the horizon.

It defies any common sense. FSG sacked Kenny due to poor results and they are not interested in a manager that qualified for CL 5 out of 6 times and had 59% average in PL during his 6 year reign..Blimey..

My understanding of #LFC recruitment process so far: Ayre whitling down long list for candidates to meet owners. Henry not met anyone yet

It smells more and more like Purslow running things once again.

Ayre may be good on the commercial side but he has no credentials to run the football side especially as finding suitable candidates for the new manager is one of the most important decisions to be made.

He should not be involved with that process period..

I think overhauling of the squad will be the responsibility of the DoF, head coach and the technical director rather than just the head coach himself. I would be more comfortable with Martinez if we got good people to fill the other roles.
