Didn't the Guardian say he'd written a £5 mill release clause into his last contract extension?

From that BBC article:
Hmmmm, doubt that! Why ditch your entire blueprint for the club? Would make zero sense. Possible it won’t be a “DoF” but something similar such as "technical director". Lost in the wording perhaps?“It is understood that Liverpool will not now appoint a director of football.”

Reading his tactical propaganda has changed my opinion of this. I think we're going to see some cracking footy next season. Especially if FSG back him and sign a couple of big names. Im hoping he's changed his mind due to them promising to back him big.I'm fully on board now. Mind you, I've flip flopped a few times on who I want.Originally posted by Reece View Post

Perhaps, in the process of interviewing candidates, they came to the conclusion that it could not work.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostFrom that BBC article:

These people aren't stupid, nor do they pretend to know it all. They are learning all the time.Oh I don't know.

But that would remove one of the main reasons not to speak to Benitez, making it even more ludicrous that he wasn't interviewed for the job!Originally posted by dom9 View PostPerhaps, in the process of interviewing candidates, they came to the conclusion that it could not work.

Ian Ayre's words on the DOF when Kenny was sacked:
And Tony Barrett at the time of the interview:“The idea is to have rather than one person with the responsibility for all things that Damien’s role took on, we want to make sure there is key focus in each of the key segments in that role, and there will be two or three positions in there.
Which would leave scope for a Van Gaal/Hierro type figure above him...I hope.Although Ayre stopped short of defining the disparate roles or identifying the individuals who will fill them, it is understood that Pep Segura, the technical director at the club’s academy, is likely to be promoted to a similar role with the first team. A direct replacement for Damien Comolli as director of football is no longer being sought, but FSG is in the final stages of filling a general manager-style position.

Based on the stats for the players we signed not actually being great.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostBit of a logical fallacy, what other teams do or don't do has nothing to do with whether we were or weren't utilising the ideas behind sabermetrics.
I think there are some reasonable grounds for people suggesting they were applied to our thinking to some extent. The talksport interview Comolli gave, for instance, is in stark contrast to your flat denial of that.
You seem near certain we haven't incorporated sabermetrics, but what real evidence is that based on?

It is your choice ... Rodgers is a massive gamble, but he could still turn out well with an experienced assistant as Steve Clarke, and with a competent Technical Director as Pep Segura ... If you put Rodgers working under a self-centered ego-maniac like Van Gaal, he is almost certain to fail ...Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostIn the short time you've been on here (this time around
