being a supporter is not the same as the rights you think it gives you

the club never consulted fans on appointments in the good old days.

the thing that has changed is the sky generation thinking they should have a say

Top, top thread chaps; really fun to read
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Hate to say it but that is true. The internet, these forums etc has made us so involved and made the club so accessible.

However, this is now the way it is, so I think the club actually has a moral duty to us fans and generally should take what fans say into account.

Ok so you were there when Paisley was appointed too. Did you get any say in that.
Are you Macedonian? Cos I am pretty sure that the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was not an area that would have gotten consultation if such a thing actually ever happened outside of some nostalgic ideal. Or did the Liverpool board at the time fly to Skopje just to ask your permission?

Some happened post-sky, but during the phase when we were still a 'family club'.

Can't really find a single post to quote on it, but would just in general like to say that it's really more of a structural problem. Supporters don't have a say because they are not owners, which is fair enough, but perhaps the ownership structure in british football is the problem.

In Spain for example supporters have a say in that they vote for the president that then appoints managers etc. and hence they get a say in the long run. Bit like how government is choosen (although not enterily). That way fans get a say. Untill then fans can't really complain, although it's not healthy for the club to move away from the supporters in the long run (I'm looking at MK DONS as the worst possible example).

We as fans shoulnd't have a direct say in the appointment/sacking of managers although the board is always suggestible to popular demand to some degree - and especially if results are going the wrong way as just seen with Kenny.

I really think we just need to lean back and support whoever get's the job. I can really see potential in LVG+BR!!

How would that work then? And who would be considered a fan?

So, to answer your question, I want owners who would not sell our star players, owners who would provide stability at the club so the competent people would always be a part of the club, and owners who would build a new stadium ... Basically, I want this:

It's a shame that most of the posters around here would not even bother to click at those links, but the ones that do, will have the chance to see probably the best club management model in the world of football ...

Bit of a logical fallacy, what other teams do or don't do has nothing to do with whether we were or weren't utilising the ideas behind sabermetrics.

I think there are some reasonable grounds for people suggesting they were applied to our thinking to some extent. The talksport interview Comolli gave, for instance, is in stark contrast to your flat denial of that.

You seem near certain we haven't incorporated sabermetrics, but what real evidence is that based on?

It's not the model that gets results; it's the people in the key roles. The wrong model can inhibit the right people, but the right model can't transform the wrong people into successes.

Plus it's pretty simplistic to take the Bayern example - a team that enjoys great economic advantages - and glibly say follow this lot.

I have no idea what to think anymore. I was *convinved* it was Martinez, now I'm *convinced* it's Rodgers. I want this mind**** to end, preferably some time soon.
