Ffs lads, why is our set up so weird that a striker needs to be other worldly.

What sort of striker do we need
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I think Isaac would do well in our setup, shame he’s made of the same biscuits as Jota.

I thought the second half of Wednesday was more Klopp than 'Slot as we so far know him'.

Although we'll continue to rotate, but if it was CL final tomorrow, is Gakpo, Diaz and Mo our best forward line currently?

I would always try to find a place for Jota, but even ignoring his excellent output, the way Diaz swapped positions with Szobo one game, then across the front 3 next game was pretty impressive and must be a nightmare to mark.

Could he be he next left winger to kick on and become an excellent CF (Suarez, Henry, RVP etc.)?

Edit: Tiny sample size, I know...
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Gakpo, Diaz and Mo are out first choice front three

After that it's Jota and then a toss up between Darwin and Chiesa

It’s not really toss up between Darwin and Chiesa though, it’s obviously the one who’s actually making the match day squads.

The more i see of Cunnha the more he impresses me, I think he would be an excellent addition to the squad.

Under Arne Slot our in game management has come on leaps and bounds.
The games vs city was textbook low block, so we'll organised.
Vs psg we did struggle in the first half but seemed to tighten up in the second half, and although we were over reliant on Alisson we still came through.
It's great to see that we have that extra level of solid defence in our armoury.

So, the new season starts in three days and we have genuine reasons to be optimistic. We held on to Virgil and Mo. We added genuine world class talent in Wirtz, and a player in Ekitike whose link-up play shows signs of being Bobby-esque. A defender in Frimpong who actually wants to defend.
None of us are going to miss watching Trent amble back into position as the opposition break down the left. We’ve upgraded on his defending and Frimpong will help Mo on the overlap but we haven’t replaced the passing. Our build-up from the back last season was usually Virgil pinging a diagonal to Mo, a short pass to Gravenberch or a long pass from Trent to a runner from any of the front three. I thought we missed Trent in particular in the EFL Cup Final defeat.
I haven’t seen much of pre-season, have people noticed how our build-up from the back has changed since last season?
                    Never knowingly optimistic

Given Mo and Virg were ****e on Sunday and Grav is missing from Fridays game, I'm just hoping for a win, we then get the barcodes who will make SJP like a cauldron given Isak - I'd be happy with 4 points TBH from both.
I make no apologies, this is me

Seemed to be more balls down the channels to wide players as well as more vertical play thanks to our excellent technical ability through Gravenberch, Wirtz and Ekitike.

Why Liverpool’s ‘Italian’ method of defending free kicks seems to be more effective

Lifted from match thread, as it's something I said I'd keep an eye on.

'But the more you watch clips of teams defending in that manner, the more it seems like a good approach. Not only does it allow the defending side to come forward and attack the ball, but it also seems to cause confusion for the player taking the free kick because they’re so accustomed to simply whipping the ball in behind.'

This was illustrated perfectly about 20 mins in. Arsenal had a free kick, deep into our half, Neville calls us out for being far too deep, Arsenal, without the usual space to play into, kick it straight out of play.

Hope someone does some proper analysis of our defending for that match. Did we do something differently from corners which threw off Arsenal, did we just touch lucky that most corners were RHS and they didn't have their left footed takers, was it a bit of both?

Likewise, did we look more solid because Konate played like we know he can, or did Konate play better because we had better shape/organisation?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I remember hearing Neville talk about the line being too deep, which gave me a lot of confidence that we were on the right track

Neville seemed to be trying to talk the ball into our goal on every set piece that Arsenal had, you could hear the hope and expectation in his voice with.

I honestly prefer Neville to Carra at the moment. I don’t even mind his bias, it is understandable to an extent. Carra does my ****ing head in on comms.
