Without Henderson in midfield, we have absolutely no hope in hell. He covers Lucas and Gerrard's lack of everything.

Not only did Williams leave his boot up high deliberately, he also gave an extra kick to Countinho's midrift just to make sure - it was a proper scum bag thing to do.

It's time he retired from England - it's not as if he's going to win anything with them.

The central midfield needs rebuilding, we're crying out for a Xabi or dare i say it Carrick
Or a Gareth Barry on loan...... He'd have been the clever Gary mac style signing

Not sure about Sakho......I just wish we went for Eriksen to be honest

I would say that Henderson has probably been our most consistent outfield player this season oh and of course a certain Mr Goals.

He looked jaded today and squandered possession too easily by going longer when we needed to control the game. Too good a player to leave out but after 180 minutes for England and travelling he may have been better rested. Would like to see a Lucas / Henderson axis, I think it would be a good partnership.

Having seen the challenge again, would definitely agree that Williams leaves his boot in and makes little attempt to withdraw it - even appears to have a last flick at our lad (although there is no contact with his midriff) but Coutinho is already jumping before contact is made. Very clear.
                  Really?

There's just plain not enough legs to last a full 90 in a Gerrard-Lucas-Henderson midfield, with Henderson shouldering too much of the running duties. Need some midfield reinforcements -- or even a rethink of it in Jan. A righback should be on the cards too. The drop-off from Johnson to Wisdom is too jarring.

Yeah it was but I think he's referring to the fact the injury was a result of the jump and landing rather than the actual contact. Obviously without the challenge there is no landing. It was naughty, no more than that, no leg breaker. Gutted at the outcome but not going to slate a meh challenge.

I'd rest Gerrard (now and then) and play Henderson and Lucas in midfield (when Suarez is back). Having said that, I'd also play Gerrard in front of Lucas and Henderson (to give Coutinho a rest - now and then ). In other words, I haven't got a ****ing clue. Back to auditingzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

We need to bring in a dynamic central midfielder in January. Long term, we need two of them.

I've noticed Henderson doesn't always start games well, first 5-10 mins. Maybe it nerves I don't know but overall every match this season he's been quite good and we need a player of his type in the team. Can cover every blade of grass.

Almost exactly what I am referring to, except that without the challenge there is no opportunity to jump. Our player doesn't have to try to draw the foul like that and has injured himself in so doing. Hopefully he doesn't miss any games.
