It's really annoying that referees are the main talking point after matches, there isn't a decision to make - it's a straight red card. What effect that would have had on the match is debatable, no doubt Everton would have reorganised and it would have been a completely different game.

I thought Flannagan held up well under the circumstances, but I didn't think he was quite as good as some people have been making out at all. But then I didn't think Gerrard and Allen were that bad either so **** knows what game I was watching.

I thought he was pretty solid.

Won 8 of 9 attempted tackles, more than our other 3 defenders put together. Also made more interceptions (4) than any our other 3 defenders and his passing was as accurate as any of them.

Under the circumstances, I thought he did pretty well. He's at an age now where he knows first team opportunities will be limited, so that's enough pressure nevermind it being a big derby. He's definitely had more good performances than bad for us, so I'd be happy to see him get an extended run in the side.
