Massive opportunity for Flanno to stake his claim. The next few weeks could be career defining.

I thought Flanagan did well but it's all relative, he did well in comparison to most peoples expectations of him.
Wait until we play Hull and Norwich and he doesn't add much in possession (not particularly his strength) and everyone will have a moan again.
He started and as against Arsenal didn't let anyone down, that massively different to being good enough in the long term.
Flanagan is another who is good to have as a squad player but 5 games a season won't bring him on, a season on loan playing 45-50 games would but we can't loan out everyone. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

In Kenny's first year when we played some excellent fluid, attacking football, he had some very good games and did not look one bit out of place. We beat City 3-0, Birmingham 5-0, Newcastle 3-0 and Fulham 5-2.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostI thought Flanagan did well but it's all relative, he did well in comparison to most peoples expectations of him.

He's a lot better in possession than people give him credit for as mostly they seem to form their opinion on the mistake against Sunderland the following year and the poor Blackburn performance. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

His composure on the ball in the game v City was remarkable. He had a torrid time after that season, at Blackburn especially, but he has promise. Looked **** for a while but you never can really tell with young kids...ups and downs and all that. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Aye, that definitely was the stand out game for him.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHis composure on the ball in the game v City was remarkable. He was YPOTY in his first year, had **** second with everybody else under Kenny in 11/12, plagued by injuries last year, so hopefully he'll kick on this year and rediscover that early form he had for us. I do think we would have benefited from sending him on loan a long time ago though. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I slagged him off before the game, based on looking really shaky when I'd seen him previously. But, he looks much improved and he was willing to bring the ball forwardnand add to the attack. He did so by coming in field though and I think this may suggest he's lacking confidence in his pace or ability to take on his man.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostI thought Flanagan did well but it's all relative, he did well in comparison to most peoples expectations of him.

Based on Saturday, I'm now happy that Brendans giving him another chance and I will do the same

No surprise but it's a fecking disgrace!Originally posted by Shaggy View PostNo action will be taken against Mirallas. Surprise.
Even Mirallas thought it should have been a red:

Everton
Had it been Suarez - retrospective 6 game ban.
