see him on skysports.com - saying that he wants LFC to be like Peps Barca and win 20 trophies in the next 4 years or so......
The guy does my head in. Like the time last year where he said he thought we'd go unbeaten.
Please get rid!!!

Further, what does "doesnÂ’t mean heÂ’s up to the standard that we need" actually mean? What standard do we need at the moment and who defines what this standard is? We are Champions of the World, Europe and soon to be England and he has demonstrably played a part in this. As a third or fourth choice centreback, I would argue that you would struggle to find a player of higher quality to replace him in that role. The best manager in the world has deemed he is of appropiate standard for this team based on first-hand knowledge of his training and performances. I would deem this a fairer reflection of his true standard.
The nonsense was your arbitrarily chosen player who barely featured in the past two years to poorly fit your argument.
I didn't compare him to Moreno mate - just said that it's nonsense to argue that he's good BECAUSE he was in the squad - and gave the extreme example of Moreno, who was in the squad, but not very good (by our recent high standards)
I went on to say that I think Lovren has been good(ish) for us, but that as we have gotten better he has slipped down the pecking order and now is the weakest link, in his position. I even gave him the compliment that he would start for 16/17 PL teams.
Hmmm I'm not sure about what your getting at, talking about who defines standards etc, sounds philosophical, but Lovren is paid 100k a week - the same as Mane and Fabinho. I would say his contribution (these days) is not comparable to the standard of these guys. Gomez is 1st choice alongside vvd and is paid 28k a week.
In the end of the day, his contract ends next year, so we have 3 options:
a) Sell him in the summer for 20-30m
b) extend his contract for another few years, at 100k+ per week.
c) let his contract run out, as 4th choice centre back and then have him leave for free.
Which option do you think makes most sense?

I'm surprised he hasn't spouted any crap since he's been back, he's pretty quiet when he's injured

Thats why the brazilian players are so good. We need to train with samba drums.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post
Lovren played 8 League games and 3 CL and didn’t have a bad game earlier in the season.
As a 4 we can’t get better than the guys we have. Obviously they didn’t play well at the weekend, but that was a lot of guys coming back from injury at the same time.
Gomez was ****e when he came into the team v Salzburg earlier in the season and got dropped (for Lovren) after. But haters gotta hate. You need rhythm to find form.

I think Lovren is a good defender 90% of the time, maybe 95% but you know that he always has a comical mistake in him, which could cost us. He would start in prob 16/17 teams in the PL, but I don’t think he’s up to our standards. He’s been a half decent player for us, but as we’ve improved the squad over the last few years, he’s become the weakest link, in the center back position.
If Klopp wanted to bring in another quality centerback, it would make sense to get rid of one. I would rate Gomez and Matip above Lovren, so as I say, I’m with Frank- it’s better to sell him in the Summer than pay him 100k a week for another year and have him leave for free, when his contract expires!

Yup great post - you've posted a whopper there Frank.Originally posted by DeeTheDog View PostSo, forget about the past two years, in which he has been part of the squad that has got to two Champions League finals, finished with the 3rd highest points total ever in the league, whilst breaking all sorts of records on the way to the league title.
Your validation is that he played poorly, in his 1st game back from injury, playing in a team which was mixture of youth, players returning from injury and fringe players. Yes, you called it, you must be some footballing savant.
Must have been galling for you to have to go so long without having anything to moan and gripe about.
