Happy we're not loaning him out too, why can't Roma afford him though? They sold Alisson last year and Manolas this year, surely they have some cash.

I personally think this is good news.

Never thought I'd be relieved to see Lovren extend his stay here, but I am

We'd end up with Henderson back in a position that he is not particularly effective in.

It would be a worry only having matip and gomez as serious first team partners to the imperious VVD with the new lad (van deer berg) as a potenial benchwarmer or cup player, and hoever as back up full back and maybe 5th choice full back.
Could we still sign an out of contract guy to help give us some additional cover?

Pinching fab to plug a hole only weakens us elsewhere so it makes no sense at all.

Totally agree with that. He’s the best DM we have plus he can thread a pass through their defence. I love the guy & wouldn’t want him shuffled around.

I don't think anyone wants to see it happen. I suppose the point I was trying to make is that perhaps Klopp would prefer a Virgil - Fabinho partnership in defence with Hendo at #6 rather than Lovren Virgil with Fabinho in front.

And if that is the case, then we don't really need Lovren as he is effectively 5th choice defender then.

I think if Lovren had the possibility of playing another position - like full back - then he'd be more valuable. But he cant

Milner is fair game, in fact I think he'll have more appearances there than in midfield due to the numbers in defence vs attack.

Van Dijk, Matip, Gomez, Trent and Robertson.

5 senior pros for 4 starting spots.

After that it's 17 year olds in defence when you're trying to get 100 points in the league?

    Wow.

Side note but it's a strange thing that starting from keeper, through defence, midfield and attack the normal age at which you breakthrough tends to get younger. A 17 year old attacker feels normal, but a 17 year old CB/keeper seems risky.
