Seeing as it wasn't given as a foul, it would seem that you are.

I'll rephrase it: You aren not supposed to be able to do that

Yes we have all gone soft but the rules are the rulesOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostYou've all gone soft, he got the ball first. It's a physical contact sport. Besides it's only ****ing lovren. McMahon loved to tackle like this.
The lad rolled over the ball and thats intentional imo. It was used frequently in the 70's and 80's and I myself probably did more than enough of those challenges at amateur level but in todays football its not allowed
In todays football thats a red for me all day long. How he escaped without even a booking is hard to fathomBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

No they didntOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostIn the 70's and 80's did players get bollocked for winning the ball and as a consequence hurt the opposing player? If so I can't remember.
The football was different then, those sort of tackles were acceptable and normal and more importantly they were within the rules
Today those tackles are not permitted under the current laws of the gameBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

The only thing that makes me think there was intent was that he lifted his foot as he went through the ball, its the type of thing I would have done as one of my first tackles back in the 80'sOriginally posted by Kenneth View PostIf the situation had been two players running towards each other then I'd have been screaming for a red card. However, Lovren was coming in from the side (it's more obvious on the view down the pitch rather than the one across it) so i don't think you can conclude that Gardener lined up the follow through, it was just an unfortunate collision imo.

Are you being serious?
These days you have to tackle studs down any follow through should continue in that vein
To me in todays football thats a yellow at the very least and hes lucky to have not gotten a red
I am not saying I like the new rules and personally I think we are making it a no contact sport but you can only go on what the rules are
If you are studs showing and out of control then its a bookable offence at the very least. To me he goes through the ball and elevates his foot in doing so. Personally I think thats intentional whether thats done to protect himself or hurt the man
Equally I think Skrtl was lucky to have not been booked or even red carded first half as he went for a ball out of control (possibly even two footed) with studs showing and all be it didnt catch the manBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. we love to hate him???Originally posted by Alex View PostCan someone let me know if we love or hate Dejan at the moment?
He's been loads better over the last few games. Stick a decent keeper behind him and who knows what kind of player he might end up as?
Wonder how long he'll be out for? Most likely stitches in that cut and then he needs it to heal.Modifying post.

That (along with many other things he's done) was really ****, but he's clearly a bit mental and I've always liked that
One other thing, has anyone else noticed how many headers he wins in the opposition box? But they NEVER seem to be on target, and if they are, it's straight into the keeper's hands.

That's because it was a blatant redOriginally posted by Cormack74 View PostGraeme Poll seemed to imply it was a red on TS at lunchtime.
You start letting tackles (follow throughs) like that go and we will start to need some pretty big squads. We were guilty of a few as well, but that one was bad.
Lovren was on oxygen FFS. Even if he didn't mean it, it was reckless, and therefor a red.Modifying post.
