Reminded me a Shearer penalty - smashed into the top corners. No keeper in the world is saving them unless they're The Flash.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostHis pen was unreal. You literally cannot hit a better pen than that.
His touch and pass in the lead up to it was absolutely sublime also."We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

I agree about Diaz but Robbo refused to give the ball to Gakpo nearly all evening. Turned inside to Virg way too much. I think his confidence must be shot & played it safe all the time.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostGreat assist and nice finish. Thought he had a decent game and was our best player. The other forwards need to help out now.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Lol - he's been doing this constantly for ages.Originally posted by SB View PostI agree about Diaz but Robbo refused to give the ball to Gakpo nearly all evening. Turned inside to Virg way too much. I think his confidence must be shot & played it safe all the time.
He has no right foot and a **** first touch, so unless the ball is played perfectly out in front for him to run onto he will more likely than not turn inside and play it backwards /or sideways.
LB is the most obvious upgrade in our side, and has been for 3 seasons now. Both of them are bang average. Robbo has been a great player at times and seems a great lad for the team morale (I'd keep him as backup fwiw) but he's cooked as a starter."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Even more so today than normal though. Poor old Gakpo hardly saw any of the ball compared to normal & yeah totally agree LB is the position that needs upgrading in the summer. Normally we’d have Gomez as another option but injuries have deprived us of his services.Originally posted by Harv View PostLol - he's been doing this constantly for ages.

35 games, 27 goals and 19 assists is a mind blowing return.
Absolutely unreal.
All the Liverpool fans predicting (rubbing there hands together in pre-emptive validation) a second half of the season fall off have gone very quiet. He’s absolutely carrying us as an attacking threat.Modifying post.

Think he might be our best ever player to be honest. Unreal.
People will rightly talk about others like Dalglish, Barnes, Gerrard and one or two more. Suarez the year we nearly won the title was epic. I think he was the best player in the world that year..... I remember going to the Norwich home game and genuinely came out ofnthe stadium knowing i would never see a better individual performance in my life.
But Salah has done it right at the very top for us for so long now. Hope he stays for another few years and really goes for Rushs goalscorer record.

Salah’s GPG rate is incredible. 1.61 over his 384 games with us. He is now 3 goals away from being our third all time leading goal scorer, playing off the right wing.
He has never once talked about playing for another club.
I also hope we get to see another couple off seasons of Salah, because players like him that stay at the same club for so long are generational.Last edited by Buzzo; 14-02-25, 04:10 PM.Modifying post.

Yeah I think his sustained return over almost eight seasons with us is incredible and really puts him in a very small group of players that managed to maintain a world class return over so many seasons in a row.
As you said we have had guys that had great seasons or who are known as club greats that had longer careers with us than Mo will have, but am struggling to think of a lot of players who have had eight seasons in a row with us during which the level of what they are meant to do in their role did not drop below world class.
Think one of Salah's biggest competitors for that sort of sustained
levels whilst at Liverpool would be Virgil van Dijk.
Barnes was brilliant and is probably the most talented attacking player I have seen be it live or on tv, but his peak years did not last as long as Salah's.
Gerrard had a very long career with us but nobody will convince me that he had eight years in a row where he stayed best in the world in terms of his play/return from the role he was in. He might have eight seasons that way over his career but not in a row.
Think we have been very lucky the past decade in that we have gotten to see a number of players that will go down as club all time greats with some of them maybe the best ever at the Club in their positions.
Salah, VVD and Alisson for me as best ever for us in their positions.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
