I think there are decent arguments to be made for calling it as anywhere 5-7. That has to be regarded as at least mildly disappointing. The mean Est1892 rating on the responses so far is 6.3 which seems to go along with that. We were probably a VVD away from it being more like 7.5 but we have what we have, and we need to focus on doing more with that for now.

I said a six but I was trying to be positive against my better judgement (might have been a five). I think not spending on defense again will be regarded as a failure but we'll see.

I'd say the Keita deal, even if we so could do with him now, keeps the rating up a bit more than otherwise. I still think Robertson will prove to be a shrewd purchase, but we erred significantly not picking up Maguire too (VVD or not). Just that would have made it a clearly decent window, the decision to go without any CB reinforcements at all is starting to look like somewhat of a disaster.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Its not even the money imo. If we assume Keita was mostly budgeted for this year, our net spending was pretty decent. Even if not it still wasn't nothing and obviously more funds were available. The clear **** up to me is simply in the decisions made by the football people not to do anything about our CB's if we couldn't get VVD. Maguire only cost like £13m or something, we had a line of communication open with Hull already and had been rumoured to be looking at him last season too.Originally posted by Patricks_Berger View PostI just wish FSG would put in the same level of financial ****ing commitment that I do when I have to reach in my pocket for 3 ton for a match ticket and transport to game. I chose to do it, but they chose to own our football club, so man up.
I just cannot see how anyone could have looked at him, then Lovren & Klavan, and not thought we could use him even if we did also get VVD. That's not on FSG's toes for penny pinching for me, not even remotely, that comes down to a football decision and it was a bad one. Almost as bad as that season Rodgers & co decided the only forwards of any sort we needed were Suarez and Borini. Maybe worse because at least we still had Suarez.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
